OK, here's one of the (other) negatives of being on furlough. Last night when I should have been at work, instead I'm checking out the movie channels and stumble upon: "Surfer, Dude."
A shirtless (imagine that) Matthew McConaughey playing a Malibu surfer.
Normally, I'd think the role was just a way for him to earn a few bucks and bed down with some hotties, but he was one of the producers, so I doubt he made a dime. He did, however, get to bed down with the hotties.

I finally watched Casablanca for the first time. I've been meaning to right that wrong for years, but finally got around to it today. I'm glad I did.

Saw 'Earth'... it was interesting, about 20 minutes too long, but very pretty.

See Breakfast at Tiffany's if you haven't. That was the old movie I hadn't seen that I was really pissed I waited so long for.

Agreed. The funniest part was the Superb bird of paradise who cleans his nesting area to attract a female bird then goes into that dance.

Watched "Gran Torino" last night. It was a really good movie. I went into it with low expectations, but it was great. If Clint Eastwood wanted to cap a career, he picked the right way.

Hmm, I'll add that to the list of old movies I need to watch. Also on the list is His Girl Friday and On the Waterfront.

Last movie I've in a theatre: Waking Ned Devine in '98.

Last movie I watched at home (DVD, VCR, live): Secretary in '06.

My life is filled with the four-letter network, stuff to do around town, and this site.

You haven't been in a movie theater since 1998? Boy are you in for some major sticker shock the next time you go to one. Let's just say tickets and food and whatnot are a shit load more expensive.

The Blue Gardenia (1953) on TCM -- anything to keep from studying -- it was okay. Also, I started watching High Noon last night but fell asleep. What of it I saw was pretty good.
