Yes, saw it Friday. Tense and taut. John Goodman is a creep's creep.

I don't remember if it was this thread or elsewhere on here, but I recall someone saying after The Gambler came out to not be surprised if Goodman keels over as big as he was. It looks like from the previews for Cloverfield he's lot a good chunk of weight.

Summer of Sam on HBO or Showtime. That movie sucked out loud and in stereo.

I liked it for about an hour. Spike's "Scorsese" movie. He didn't close the deal on it. I like a lot of Spike Lee's movies, but he doesn't have the pop sensibility for Scorsese. He's too sincere.

Took my almost-4-year-old to see Zootopia on Saturday for his first movie. It was a fun movie. Jason Bateman was perfect as the sly fox and the animation was excellent. Some fun shout outs to Frozen and a good story. My kid didn't take his eyes off the screen for 90 minutes. It was a great first movie experience for us.

Finally saw Ron Howard's "Rush" last night. Not bad. I really liked the attention to detail as far as getting the time period correct with the visuals, Lincoln Town Car limo at the end notwithstanding. Great ending.

John Leguizamo is a painful actor to watch. Never understood his appeal or how he became a big-time actor. Do the Right Thing was a great movie with a fitting conclusion, but Spike's movies never seem to land correctly. He consistently makes movies that are good for 80 percent of the running time

He elevated material like "Super Mario Bros." and "Spawn" in the 90s. Can't believe Leo won an Oscar before Leguizamo.

Finally caught up with both parts of the animated "Dark Knight Returns," which has been turning up late at night on HBO.
It's based on the Frank Miller comic - which influenced Nolan's Batman and the upcoming movie - and draws a lot of its imagery from that. The animation is a bit inconsistent but Peter Weller makes a damn fine Batman.

I really enjoyed it when I saw it a couple years ago. IDK if it's still on Netflix, but I also watched a doc they had on the F1 race between Lauda and Hunt that year. It debunked a couple myths from the movie and was generally a nice complement to the film.

Saw Brooklyn tonight. What a good movie. Maybe I'm old but the story was predictable. But it was told well and shot lushly.

I still haven't seen Part 1, but I liked the Part 2. I thought they captured the comic well and I also liked Weller in the role.

Netflix recently added Son of Batman, which isn't bad.
