Saw "A Beautiful Mind" for the first time Friday.

Thought Russell Crowe was outstanding. I could look it up but other than Jennifer Connelly, did this film pick up any other Oscars? I usually like any movie with Christopher Plummer in it. Thought the scene when Crowe punches Plummer in the face was kind of amusing.

Revenant. I'd like my 2:36 back, please.

But other than that, it wasn't received well by critics. :D

Johnny Dangerously was just on TV. What a classic.

EDIT: By the by... whatever happened to our Johnny?

I also recently saw 'The Revenant' and really liked it.

Could've done without most of the flashbacks and the dead wife, but still a good movie.

Might've been even better just telling the real story with all the contrivances.

About 1:30 in, I was not digging it but thought "Hell, I've watched it this far, may as well finish it." Wouldn't had I known there was another frigging hour.

Free State of Jones over the weekend. I knew a little about the story before watching it and I read about it more after watching the movie. I don't know how historically accurate the film is, but it's a fun (and frustrating) ride. As a Northern who's infuriated by the amount of Confederate icons I see displayed on cars or shirts of some people around here (when nearby cemeteries are full of their dead ancestors who fought for the Union), it was refreshing to see a decent-size crowd in the theater.

Was on a mothballed Aircraft Carrier for the 4th and happened on Top Gun showing in the pilots briefing room; very cool to watch ending there, so went home and saw it again from beginning; IMHO so fun to see jets and hear in surround sound

Anglophiles: "The Lady in the Van" gets two enthusiastic thumbs up. Maggie Smith is a nutty old woman who lives in a van in playwright Alan Bennett's driveway for 15 years. Nutty, deluded, cantankerous, but with a helluva backstory. Based on true events. Bonus: For fans of another Bennett work, "The History Boys," nearly the entire cast makes cameos in this flick.
