Just saw it as well. Really enjoyed it. Eddie of Eddie & the Cruisers (Michael Pare) as a murdered snitch!

Jason Bourne v John Wick. Who you got?

  5. In a fight or preference?
    I prefer Bourne.

  6. Watched Iverson doc, re-watched Cinderlla Man and Nevada Smith ...
Iverson doc was very pro-Iverson. Incredibly sympathetic to him. The parts dealing with the bowling alley brawl were almost hard to believe.
I think AI was railroaded over the whole incident, but the documentary portrays him as COMPLETELY innocent in the brawl. The kid was an angel.

Cinderella Man ... Still good. Too long. Really puffs up the legend of Max Baer. Still enjoyable.
Same as the last time I watched it, I had to look up the actor who played Baer. (I knew I recognized him) .. It was the villain from the Long Kiss Goodnight.

Nevada Smith ... Steve McQueen western. It had a 5-star rating on Netflix. I've seen it before... Jesus, does it suck. McQueen - at age 33 - is supposed to pass for a half-breed teenager.

Not a fan of the movie but when I was in high school I Enjoyed reading The Carpetbaggers by Harold Robbins. Nevada Smith was a character in the novel.

The age thing: I still get creeped out by the original "Sabrina." Bogart, pushing 60, macking on the 24-year-old (and even younger looking) Audrey Hepburn.

That was an interesting movie. Bogart and director Billy Wilder did not get along at all. He seemed to torment Bogart and it showed in his performance. She had a real-life fling with William Holden during the movie.

Bogie was way to old for her, though.

Watched 3 movies on the plane yesterday, which went from good to pretty good to bad.

All the President's Men, the Big Short, and Meet the Fockers.

I usually like Stiller but Fockers went nowhere fast. Best parts of Big Short were when they cut to cameos by Selena Gomez, Anthony Bourdain and Margot Robbie to explain some of the concepts.

That's funny, SB ... I recently re-read All the President's Men for the first time in a long while. Obviously, both the book and the movie hold up.

I had forgotten how much humor is in there. Also, it's sobering in today's newspaper world to think how many times they tore up pages/stories well after deadline — at a time when it was much, much more difficult to do so.

    Today's scenario goes like this:

Woodward/Bernstein: We got a third source on Mitchell! He distributed cash from the illegal slush fund!

Editor: Sorry boys, it's after 11 p.m. Past deadline. Can't do an update on your story because our paper's paginated in Austin, Texas; printed three hours away; and our drivers need the papers in their beat-up cars by 4 a.m.
But don't worry ... we'll put it on our web site, where Nixon's paid team of trolls will post hundreds of comments to discredit your information and you within an hour.
