I have not been more disappointed in a movie in a long time.

My wife rented Bride Wars yesterday. I didn't hate it. I love Anne Hathaway, but she's gotten way too skinny.

Kate Hudson is not aging well. She looks very weathered for someone who can't be much past 30. I thought she was just about the hottest thing going a few years back.

I got around to watching "Milk" and "The Wrestler" this weekend. Really good character studies, and Penn and Rourke gave great performances. I know Penn got the Oscar. But based on one viewing of each, I thought Rourke was more deserving.

Finished the weekend with a fun trip back to 1985 with "Fright Night."

Both incredible, deserving appearances, but I thought Penn was more deserving for Milk. Rourke was essentially playing himself sort of like Courtney Love in "Larry Flynt"

Just finished with New In Town. It isn't the worst romantic comedy out there but I'm no Renee Zellweger fan. She's a little better than bearable ... not like she's a Drew Barrymore or anything.

I like Harry Connick Jr. as a leading man, but this is too Zellweger-centric.

Lots of gaffs in it, too. You can clearly see Manitoba highway signs, even though we're supposed to be in Minnesota.

Zellweger has to go down as one of the most unlikely movie stars in history, doesn't she?

Shawn Hatosy now of Southland also was in that movie (Alpha Dog) as the cold-blooded killer who pulled the trigger. I really like his turn in Southland.

Wrath of Khan. Way better than Star Trek I.

star trek 1? frankly, shocked they got them to pony up for another after that thing. course, back in the day, seems it was a big deal. but, no, did not hold up well. and not surprising - the thing was originally written to be one of the hour-long shows. you get the feeling that if they cut it back to an hour or so, it would be pretty solid.

It made money though, which is why they ponied up for another. It's why there was a sequel to Fantastic Four, which was crap.
