  1. Tarentino has great stories. I have issues with the stupid shit he inserts into to his movies.
Like bleeping Beatrix name, or putting in 70s-era sound effects in random spots in the film or the ridiculous accent in Inglorious Basterds and the general oddities in most of his movies. He needs someone to keep him on point. It's little stuff he does in his movies, like discovered a new button on a mixing or editing board and just throws it into the film.

Love Pulp and Inglorious, but Reservoir Dogs is my favorite of his. The dialogue is so tight.

I loved this movie. I've liked Dev Patel in just about everything he's done since he broke out in "Slumdog Millionaire" (maybe the best Christmas Day viewing I've had). It's among Nicole Kidman's best work as well. It was really well done, it rang true and hit home in a lot of ways.

Same. I can't not watch Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction if they're on. All great, great movies. Not sure a Kill Bill 3 is necessary, but I'll see it.

I can rewatch Reservoir Dogs any time as well. True Romance, written by Tarantino (and sold so he could make Pulp Fiction) and directed by Tony Scott is among my all-time favorite films. It's so well done, and the writing is so perfect.

I really liked Inglorious Basterds, but the first scene is the best scene. Django was excellent, but not on the same level as his previous films. Haven't yet seen the Hateful Eight, but I imagine I'll enjoy it. I loved From Dusk Til Dawn as well, which he wrote and I'm pretty sure he directed parts of it alongside Rodriguez (I think I remember an interview where he said he directed the parts that took place north of the border and Rodriguez took over from there. The DGA forbids the co-director credit, so he didn't get credit for it, IIRC, but I'm not sure on that).

Deathproof didn't do much for me, nor did Jackie Brown. Those are probably his only two misses for me.

That scene and the bar scene, which is an all-timer once they got past the monkeyshines.

  6. American Anarchist ... It's a documentary on Bill Powell, who wrote the Anarchist's Cookbook.

He's genuinely remorseful for having written it. He claimed to have no idea it was the possession of so many domestic terrorism perps (including school shooters). Although, he's been living outside the U.S since the 1970s. He's been a teacher to behavior-issue kids all over the world. And the book has followed him everywhere.

Fun fact: He died back in March.

    Very good watch.

I had not heard about this movie. I must see this.

I caught "The Accountant" a couple of nights ago. It's very well done, a clever, original take on working for the mob(s). Very seldom do the plot twists break the way I expected, and I really didn't find a lot of nits to pick with it. Ben Affleck handles the autism subplot well as a Rain Man type math savant who works as a forensic accountant for the mob and also functions as a hit man against those who offend against his personal code. Pretty good.

I love me some Malick. His last one didn't work for me.

Love Tarantino, but Sam Jackson's almost too good in both Django and Hateful Eight. The movies stop when he's onscreen.

Saw Baby Driver. I just geeked out over the music. The rest was just icing on the cake. Loved the entire experience.

In the last couple of weeks, I took the kids to see Spider-Man: Homecoming and Despicable Me 3. I enjoyed Spider-Man, as did the kids. They also liked DM3, but I fell asleep.
