Mickey was robbed . . . but an eminently-fair take.

Just finished watching "Rush" starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jason Patric, an oldie but goodie. Excellent performance as well by Greg Allman.

Con Air, The Rock, Armageddon..some of the most testosterone drenched dialogue ever in those films.
"Well Mr. Sinclair, you've probably got no FUCKING idea what I'm talking about! By your 9th birthday, I was running BlackOps into China and my men were responsible for over two-hundred enemy kills. Now someone put some rigging tape over Mr. Sinclair's mouth, he's wasting my time!"

Commander Anderson: Make no mistake, gentlemen. We are in the fight of our lives, against one of the greatest battalion commanders of the Vietnam War, I shit you not.

Chief of Staff Hayden Sinclair: Three tours in Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, Desert Storm; three Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars and the Congressional Medal of - Jesus. This man is a hero.
General Al Kramer: Well, I think "legend" might be a better description, Mr. Sinclair.
Chief of Staff Hayden Sinclair: Well, now we can add kidnapping and extortion to his list of accolades.
General Al Kramer: Mr. Sinclair, General Hummel is a man of honor.

Jason Patric is a pretty good performer, I saw a film he did with Ray Liotta called Narc that was pretty solid.

Narc was definitely a solid movie. I quite liked it.

Shades of 2001? There were a couple of bucketfuls of it in there. :)

Saw Last Chance Harvey last night. Not a bad movie, but just some stuff off about it. Emma Thompson's character is the oldest non-nun to have apparently never dated, judging by how utterly clueless she was about the concept. And where the hell did the abortion reference come from? And what 50-year-old woman just lets some stranger accompany her to acting class? Dustin Hoffman's first few minutes had the off-the-charts what-can-go-wrong-next vibe of Nordberg in the first couple minutes of The Naked Gun.

This is weird, Dools because JR and I watched this last night as well. And I loved it. It all felt plausible to me.

Jason Patric's best movie by a country mile is "Your Friends and Neighbors"

One of my favorite movies ever.

The original "Taking of Pelham 123." Excellent movie, hell of a cast --- Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, Jerry Stiller, a very young Hector Elizondo, plus Earl Hindman (Wilson from "Home Improvement").

Great scene early on while the mayor tries to figure out the political ramifications of paying the ransom. Tony Roberts, playing the deputy mayor, lays it all out for him:

“You know what they are going to say. The Times is gonna support you, The News is gonna knock you, The Post will take both sides at the same time. The rich will support you, likewise the blacks, and the Puerto Ricans won’t give a shit. So come on, Al, quit stalling. We’re trying to run a city, not a God-damn democracy!”

Not really interested in seeing the re-make. Anyone else seen it?

Script wasn't great. But it was Dusty being Dusty, and Emma being Emma, and for many,
    that's enough.
