Is Mission: Impossible one of those rare franchises where the sequels seem to get consistently better as they go along? The Fast and the Furious is one of the few others I can think of.
Not counting the Marvel movies, since most of them are so different from one another, although some of them might fall into that category if you break them out into their separate franchises (like Captain America).

I think new Bond movies are the best.

    Raid 2
    Godfather 2

    It is a short list.

Saw Almost Famous again at a second-run theater last night. It's weird that you can revisit a movie and not revise your opinion of it but that's what happened. The first part with the young William is still flat, the rest is still wonderful.

One of my fav "sleeper" movies where I went into it with no expectations and had so much fun. The acting was so enjoyable, the story so amazing (true story!)

Almost Famous still is in my top two or three in terms of my favorite movies ever. Great blend of music and journalism. Terrific performances from PSH, Billy Crudup, Kate Hudson and Frances McDormand. Hell, even Fairuza Balk was great in it. Patrick Fugit got better as the movie went along.

  8. Slow West a western and GI Joe Rise of Cobra
    Both were bad.
Slow West was a decent western. The end was terrible.

GI Joe... was god awful. I expected it to be bad, but it was cliche by the numbers bad.... Too much CGI ... yuck. Watched it with my youngest.

Saw the latest Ocean's 8 re-make the other night, and it was fine...about what I expected. As a bonus, it got me out of seeing the latest ABBA movie. Wife and daughter went to that; I went to mine. And it was almost a private showing. Only two other people in the theater.

Black Klansman looks pretty good - seems like it could be an Oscar contender.

Blindspotting last weekend. Aside from being in Oaktown which I know very well (worked here 29 years), poignant, eye-opening about issues and multi-racial relationships.
