Was too cheap to rent Rounders (not sure could finish in 48 hrs) so watched "Mississippi Grind" with Ryan Reynolds. Very gritty gambling flick. So glad I never fell into the death trap of gambling; this flick shows all the baggage that comes with the addiction.

Ben Mendelsohn can do pretty much anything.

Yeah he's believable in his roles.

I hated him so much in Bloodline. And honestly, he may have been a better George VI in Darkest Hour then Colin Firth was in The Kings Speech.

Saw The Predator. Basically, it beat the spread. Given that it's about the sixth in the series and had intensive reshoots - including the whole last act - I found it mildly enjoyable. A little Shane Black dialogue goes a long way.

A Detroit teenager becomes the FBI's youngest informant. By 17, he becomes one of the biggest cocaine kingpins in Detroit.

Right off the bat, I can say Matthew McConaughey was the best thing about the movie. The rest took a back seat. The plot was thin and the supporting roles were OK. Interesting cameos from Brian Tyree Henry, Paper Boi in "Atlanta," and Danny Brown, a Detroit-based rapper.

If you're a McConaughey fan, you will enjoy it. Otherwise, this is a solid pass.

A Simple Favor. Anna Kendrick is perfect as the perky mom; Blake Lively is .....well Blake Lively straight out off a Versace runway (Ryan Reynolds is one lucky dude.). Not a bad storty, worth the price of admission.

We were going to see this Saturday but decided not to.
We went home to watch 'Red Sparrow' instead and fell asleep halfway through.

I like to listen to the "How Did This Get Made" podcast, where a couple guys who were in "The League" and one of guys' significant others convene a small panel and goof on a bad movie. A couple weeks ago they had an episode on "The Meg." Haven't seen the movie, but enjoyed the podcast.
