Glazer is one hell of a director. The movies he made after Sexy Beast - Birth and Under The Skin - are strange as all get out, but they’re well-directed.

Beautifully made. In terms of Mann’s *directorial* work - plot notwithstanding - it’s his best. And The Dark Knight cribbed liberally from it.

I saw Blinded by the Light this evening. I haven't enjoyed a movie that much in a long time.

'Under the Skin' is fantastic - in at least two senses of that word.

My gf, a millennial journalist, considers Joan Didion her favorite author of all time. She's also read her fair share of Tom Wolfe. I, too, read Wolfe, but only The Right Stuff, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Went and saw "Overcomer," a Christian-themed sports movie from Kendrick Brothers Productions (which has a mission of making these types of movies). This one started off a bit slowly but definitely got better as it went along.

It did a good job of broaching the question of, "Who are you when you've lost the things that matter the most to you?"

By the end, I was fully engaged and feeling it.

    BlacKkKlansman.

Liked it a lot, although I really didn’t understand why the cops went about their sting the way they did. Apparently a true story though, so maybe Spike Lee was just telling the story.
