Being John Malkovich. I don't think I've ever seen a movie and not known what I thought afterward.

    Now, I have.

If you enjoyed that experience and want to have it again, watch "Donnie Darko"

That is such a great, interesting movie.
Kaufman also wrote 'Adaptation' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,' which were wonderful.
He also adpated 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,' which was alright.
Most recently he wrote and directed 'Synecdoche, New York,' which is very interesting and challenging.

Watched "Departures," the Japanese film which won the Oscar in the foreign language category back in March. I highly recommend it if it's playing in your part of the world (it didn't get here until last Friday for some reason). Lots of emotional moments as well as some comedy.

Watched Next, the 2007 flick with Nicholas Cage. If you ever have the chance to....don't.

Loved the concept, liked the first 30 minutes but everything after that kind of went flat, in large part thanks to one of the worst endings to a film I can remember in quite some time.

All in all, if you want to watch this film, find something in the genre that is similar and watch that instead.

(Jessica Biel is hot though, so it has that going for it).

    An eclectic movie-watching weekend.

    * Watched "The Proposal." Harmless and mindless date movie. My wife's first observation afterward: "Did Sitka, Alaska seem a little Ralph Lauren-esque to you?" Yep. Turns out it was filmed in Massachusetts.

    * My Bloody Valentine 3-D. Not exactly a harmless, mindless date movie.

    * Munich. First time I watched it. Thought it was well done.

Yeah, Spielberg's made a lot of fluff in his time, but when he wants to get serious --- Munich, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List --- he's as good as anyone.

I loved Eternal Sunshine. One of my 10 favorite movies. Didn't see Adaptation. Synecdoche is on my netflix queue.

Arnold: I love Donnie Darko. I didn't feel nearly as ambivalent about that one. Then again, I didn't think the first 40 minutes were yawn-inducing.

93d: I hated hated hated no country. Hated.

I absolutely love Eternal Sunshine. Synechdoche, though, left me feeling the same way IJAG did with Being John Malkovich. I really didn't know how to feel at the end of it. I think I need to see it a few more times to really be able to take it all in.

Watched P.S. I Love You with Mrs. Novelist last night. It was reasonably entertaining. Kathy Bates and Hillary Swank really clicked as mother-daughter. Other than that, it was "My Life" flipped.
