Went to a movie way back with the folks when they were town - about halfway through my mom starts sawing logs - we're walking out I asked my dad what he thought of the movie "I liked it," he said. My mom said "I thought it was really good, but who was The English Patient?"

Went and saw "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" with a movie-theater gift card yesterday.

Let's just say I'm glad I had a gift card.

The movie wasn't bad, exactly. Just a little slow and a little too quiet, gentle and nice -- just as I remember Mr. Rogers' TV show being, and perhaps to be expected of any related film, too.

I do have to say there was some good timing in several instances, in that just when viewers might've been about to get bored and nod off -- as we were discussing above -- there would be a quietly touching, poignant or significant scene, thought or message to make you sit up and take note.

I'm 90 minutes into The Irishman and the acting and story are fine enough, I guess, but I don't care enough to invest another two hours in this thing.

Knives Out - a whole lot of fun. Craig with a Southern drawl is well done from a Californian’s POV.

I almost think the Irishman is a movie you want to see in theaters - just so you force yourself to sit throught 3 plus hours of it. Watching it at home? Too easy to press pause or get distracted by something.

Exactly. This movie wasn't made to be split into multiple watching parts. You need to be in the theater, in that seat, for three and a half hours to get the full experience.
Craig also has a southern twang in Logan Lucky, a highly underrated movie.

The Irishman is top 7 Scorsese on first watch. Not Goodfellas (very little is) but, for my taste and station in life, superior to Casino and absolutely better than The Departed.

It was pretty good. I thought I had out figured out but the twist got me.

The car chase seen reminded me of both the scene where the Spaceball ship went to ludicrous speed and pass Lone Star and Barf and the Simpsons when Sideshow Bob steals the biplane and the fighter jets go after him. I laughed pretty hard.

The ending shot was well done.

I'm glad to see some good reviews of Knives Out. Sometimes you see a cast like that and the movie seems to rely on them to carry it rather than deliver a good story.
