Watched The Equalizer 2 and Angel has Fallen.

Loved the first two thirds of the Equalizer 2 - Denzel makes so few movies each one you have savor - but the final act could have been from any action movie.
Same could be said for Angel has Fallen. The first act sucked, the middle was great when Nick Nolte enters, and then the final stand was great, though really diminshed by the typical mano a mano knife fight between the good guy and the bad guy. I really don't know why these action movies even try these things anymore - the audience knows how its going to turn out, WWE style. Good guy lands a few, bad guy gains the upper hand, then a quick reversal and bad guy dies. The only creativity is on method of death.

Netflix Extraction. It’s entertaining but a LOT of shooting and killing. Never thought of Indian/Pakistani gangsters before; my ignorance shows.

The Battered Bastards of Baseball ... damn, don't know how I went six years without hearing about this movie, not to mention having no idea about the story of the Portland Mavericks. They definitely had too much fun than the MLB establishment could ever stand. Well-done doc that's blessed with a lot more archival footage than you'd think would exist of a 1970s A-level ballclub.

Better late than never. I saw it when it was first released on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd actually known a little bit about the team because in his first updated edition of Ball Four (which was released I believe in 1980), Jim Bouton had a chapter in there about his team with the team, before the Braves signed him for his MLB comeback. The documentary offered a whole lot more about the Mavericks, obviously.

    1917 and Just Mercy.

Not big on old war movies, but after hearing so many things about 1917 decided to rent it. Meh.

Just Mercy was a movie I actually really wanted to see, but it was just OK. Michael B. Jordan was pretty good as Jamie Foxx's lawyer. The POS sheriff who basically framed Walter McMillion for murder, Tom Tate, actually was on the force for 30 years in the county and never lost an election. And pocketed just over $110K in money meant to feed inmates to boot. Alabama!

    Bone Tomahawk.

Kurt Russell meets Southwest Indian cannibals. I'm not sure there was a good movie in there straining to break free, and it took us two nights to watch it. If you've watched all of Netflix and Prime, give it a look. Otherwise, meh.

Bad Education has some damn fine, but a little fictitious, journalism in it.
