Ned Kelly starring Mick Jagger, 1970.

    "This is my fight."

Lyrics to theme "In the Shadow of the Gallows" by Shel Silverstein, sung by Waylon Jennings.

The biggest issue with West Side Story is that there was no particular reason to remake it.

I was surprised Spielberg, with limited time left in his career, spent creative energy on that.

Nightmare Alley; some beautiful carnival scenes; once they go away from that, its not as captivating. Way too long IMHO. I'd give it 3/5.

"Legend", a bio about '60's London gangsters the Kray twins, with Tom Hardy in both roles. It's funny, the gimmick of Hardy playing both roles virtually disappears. Even in the scenes where both are on screen at the same time, which is quite often, you basically never catch it as anything but well acted. The two are quite distinct, and your brain simply accepts it. Otherwise, a solid period piece, violent, with Tom Hardy showing his usual emotional intensity in the angry scenes while being solid in the day to day domestic stuff. As seems to be his norm, he disappears into character.

Call it 4/5. Very solid work.

Yeah, I found it disappointing given the cast and director.

I finally got to Ghostbusters Afterlife. Enjoyed it and thought it was really well done. Callbacks to the first two movies galore.

The kids were really good, especially the young actress. (And, man, the Stranger Things kids are gonna be waaaaaaaay older when the final season finally comes out.

Great choice to move it to a small town in Oklahoma and downplay modern technology. Not sure if I remember seeing a smart phone at all. That made it really feel like an 80s movie.

The after-credits scene indicates more movies. Not sure if concrete plans are in place. I know Ackroyd has always wanted to make more. As much as I love the original, hopefully he’s smart enough to know the old crew should be supporting players and not the main event any more.

One was a gangland boss and a killer. The other was a sure 'nough certifiable psycho who did several stints in the mental lockup and died in the asylum.

“The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.” It is what it is — just superfluous movie fun. No great storyline or cast additions, but it made me laugh. Solid single up the middle, IMHO.

Tindler Swindler: really sleek, well-made Netflix documentary. Heartbreaking at times. In this era of Trump, Theranos, Fyre Festival etc. examinations of gigantic frauds really resonate.

Marc Maron had Tony Kushner on recently. I honestly don't remember that specific question but they did talk about the movie. Very interesting episode. Episode 1301 - Tony Kushner — WTF with Marc Maron Podcast
