I watched Casino again, it should be called The Revenge Of Billy Batts. Best part of the movie is Joe Pesci’s character and his brother getting beat nearly to death and buried alive by Billy Batts in revenge for Goodfellas. It may be my least favorite DiNero Pesci movie. Sharon Stone chews up a scene like no one else besides Pacino, but she’s miles away from Pacino as an actor.

On Netflix: “Like a Rolling Stone: The Life and Times of Ben Fong-Torres.”

An entertaining and well-made documentary. Enjoyed the parts about his family/childhood, college journalism and community activism as much as or more than the Rolling Stone stuff.

I have no clue what possessed them to re-release this film.

I was wondering about that, too. One rumor I read was that it was due to attention they saw it getting online, but that was mostly people mocking the movie. Maybe they thought they had a window between the releases of Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World: Dominion. The problem there is the window doesn't help if the movie sucks.

Apparently it was somewhere between being mocked on Twitter and being trolled on Twitter by people saying sarcastically that it deserved a re-release and then laughing when they were dumb enough to actually do it. It didn't help that Jared Leto added to things by tweeting out a picture of the actor reading a fake script for Morbius 2 that went viral. I've heard zero actual good word of mouth regarding the movie.

Licorice Pizza…after the trailer debuted I was stoked to watch it as I am all things PTA, but for whatever reason I only got around to seeing it last week and I think now I know why—because I had the sense I’d be ultimately disappointed, which I was.
It’s a far slighter movie than I anticipated. The story went no where. The Sean Penn and Bradley Cooper scenes all seemed out of place and superfluous. And the romance (or more like it child grooming) never really gelled.
I didn’t feel my time was wasted but I left disappointed.

Top Gun: Maverick was a lot of fun.

Blue Chips: haven’t seen since the mid-1990s, but it was better than I remembered it. Nolte plays his part well and handles the range needed: conman, huxter, authoritarian, teacher, pal, chastened. Didn’t realize it was Bob Cousy as the athletic director…there is a scene where he keeps hitting free throws while talking to Nolte… and I feel Nolte breaks character by saying “don’t you ever miss?”

I forgot how Shaq’s character was shown as “angry young man” who acts like a little kid after the big game. I just remember the little kid part.

Ed O’Neill’s character as the gotcha journalist was better than I remembered, but he doesn’t fit the part as an actor.

    Shaq can act. Penny can’t.

Twenty years ago, this would be a no-brainer. It's the start of the summer movie season and teens would go to see anything.

Not that I think this is a good movie but this is, like, one more canary in one more coal mine for cinemas.

In what part of Fast Times at Ridgemont High does The Payolas song Eyes of a Stranger appear?

Is it when Damone is taking Brad's sister's virginity in the pool house?
