Took the kids to see Strange World today.

It’s been in the news as a massive bomb, but we thought it was really good.

I know some people have big mads about one of the main characters being interracial and gay, but those aspects were both portrayed very well and never came close to taking over the story. Exactly how they should be portrayed if the goal is to normalize them.

I liked "Knives Out" but Daniel Craig's awful attempt at a Georgia accent absolutely tortures me and takes me right out of willing suspension of disbelief.

As in "God, I can't believe they put this movie out with him sounding that bad."

Big week of movies for me:

Wakanda Forever- long but I never felt like it was dragging; great tributes to Boseman and an interesting plot

Glass Onion- A well done, fun movie with multiple layers (no pun intended)

Devotion- What a story and a great reminder of what the Korean War actually was (it was severely downplayed when I was taught); great nuance, not color by numbers plot/characters; wish it had a different title though, current one doesn't do it for me.

Is the title referencing the Gettysburg Address and "the last full measure of devotion" line?

If so, it went over this ignorant (about history) clown's head.

Saw the Neil Young Harvest movie. Lots of neat old footage, likely only of interest to serious fans.

Bullet Train was pretty good. Brad Pitt is at his best when playing a comedic role and he delivers here.

Stylish, ultraviolent thriller. I don't know that I've ever seen a movie that dropped so many plot twists in the last ten minutes. I had a lot of fun with it, and after it was over I walked away shaking my head and grinning.

I mean, it's a popcorn movie, mindless entertainment, but it has serious Style, you know?

Agreed on Bullet Train. I enjoyed it more than I expected I would.

Saw Violent Night. Santa goes all Die-Hard on a band of robbers holding a family hostage.

A podcast I listen to - Matt's Movie Lodgecast - calls this kind of film a Folding Laundry movie. If you've just gotten a whole bunch of clothes out of the dryer, this is fine for watching whille you fold it all up on the couch or bed or whatever.

Bullet Train was a silly mess.

The Menu; totally food porn, an interesting satire on the food ecosystem, well acted; not my type of story.

Confess Fletch; Hamm does a nice job. I really enjoyed Chevy as Fletch but Hamm’s right there. Original film’s story was better than this one.
