Went to a matinee of Asteroid City today. Exactly what it should have been. Quirky and fun, a great two-hour escape.

I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I thought I would. I had no idea about the George Raveling speech story.

Damon’s wardrobe was outstanding, even down to the sweater worn on the day of the meeting.

Kept waiting to hear someone say “Dinner Bell” Mel.

My only gripe was people not realizing how potentially iconic Jordan was.

Kandahar- seems like the same as The Covenent (Jake G), but in many ways not. Tight, well written script that brings to light the US's arrogance and disposal of the inhabitants of the host/invaded countries in the Middle East (and similarly throughout our history). Sure there's action but its not a Michael Bay production.

By the time that Jordan played a pre-season game his rookie year against the Knicks, it was like he was already a legend. A 14 year old Webster was in awe of him

We saw Elemental with my brother, his wife, and their daughters. My nieces are five and three and this was their first movie in the theater, so it could have easily gone sideways. The five-year-old was captivated the entire time and couldn't wait to watch it again. We had to explain to her that she had to wait a while until she could see it "on her TV." The three-year-old kept bouncing from her seat to her mother, to her father, and to my daughter, but the movie mostly held her attention, too.

The adults enjoyed it, too. It is pure Pixar, so it hits some of the usual notes, but it is cute and funny with moments designed to play on the audience's emotions. It is worth the trip if you have little ones to take to see it. If not, I'd pass until it gets to Disney+.

The new Mission: Impossible is absurd and completely over the top but also an awesome time at the theater. And to the guy behind me who said during one scene "You're nuts if you think they let Cruise do that stunt," I have to inform you that at an Imax a few months ago they showed a sneak preview of how they executed the stunt and, yes, it was Tom himself.

I think I'm caught up on all the series I watch, so I'm going through the movies queues. "Point Break 2" the other night. "310 to Yuma" last night. Yes, once baseball is done for the night, there's not a lot going on.

LAT had an article the other day saying Tom scheduled that stunt for the first day of shooting so in case he got injured or worse, production could more easily be shut down.

Hard movie to describe, easy to like. at least for me, nice bounceback from French Dispatch, which I found to be a miss.

I appreciated Hanks in the role Murray had to drop out of.

Schwartzman may get a Oscar nod.

It's decent, but I like everything Scorsese did back then. I think The King of Comedy is brilliant, and people look at me like they look at Rupert.
