"Life" on Prime last night. From 2017. With Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gylanhole and others. Space Station crew discovers life on Mars that turns into a starfish octopus thing and kills everyone aboard. It lasted about two hours. There is your review.

Tried to watch "Killers of the Flower Moon" last night. I just couldn't figure out what was going on. About an hour in, I did a quick Wiki search to get the plot summary. Stuck with it for another half-hour. Stopped to take a bathroom break and realized there still were 2 hours to go of DiCaprio droning on and Di Nero speaking Osage. Enough. See ya.

Scorsese making a long, boring movie with actors overacting? I'm shocked.

I think it’s pretty good - but that’s a legitimate critique. It was not well directed.

Saw Madame Web. Bought the tickets before all the reviews dropped about how shitty it is so I had no expectations.

I’m not a Marvel aficionado, so I can’t compare it to the rest of the universe. I’m also easily entertained. Was it good? No. Was it as crappy as expected? No.

It was silly and cheesy at times with some questionable editing and CGI, but I don’t feel like I wasted two hours.

I was more disappointed by Argylle, which I expected to be good and it wasn’t.

I’d suggest waiting til it streams and give it a shot.

I had hopes for Argylle because I like a lot of Matthew Vaughn's stuff and I like Sam Rockwell, but the lousy reviews have me waiting to stream it.

I should be the target audience for Madame Web. From the first trailer, it just didn't appeal to me. Part of it is taking these characters with backstories and some depth in the comics and shoving them all into the movie. I especially don't care for what they did with Ezekial, who is a far more complex and interesting character in the comics. It had the feel of being something rushed and crowded. I already know how the story goes, too, but I'm sure I'll watch it once it is streaming somewhere.

American Fiction is brilliant. Never laughed so hard at a police shooting in my life.

Watched Margin Call for the however manyth time. What a tight, brilliant film. So goddam smart and well-acted. Insanely good script.

"Joker," finally. Damn that was dark. Phoenix was great though.

Saw The Iron Claw. Should have been the stupidest flick of the year. Instead, I thought it was charming and brilliant. And have no idea why?

Ranking the Oscar contenders in this order:

    1) Oppenheimer
    2) American Fiction
    3) The Holdovers
    4) Past Lives

    Barbie
    Killers of a Flower Moon

    10) Anatomy of a Fall

Have not seen the rest. Can't imagine any of them vaulting into my Top 4.
