I’m still trying to figure out in which reality California and Texas would ally.

    Hit Man, the newest Linklater.

    Easy watching, somewhat unsatisfying personally.

    Agree, if
your script is going to be predictable, you really need to jazz up the execution. Funnier, quicker, etc. etc.

Watched the Seinfeld Pop Tart movie. I was entertained and I liked it. It’s definitely aimed at my demo so that makes sense. It was exactly what it set out to be. Which is why the decidedly split opinions of it make sense.

Not sure a person under 40 would get 75 percent of the jokes. I thought Hugh Grant and the Jon Hamm cameo were the highlights. But overall campy fun of a different era.

It did get me thinking. Not that they’re exactly the same, but it has the campy/absurd quality of a Naked Gun/Airplane/Johnny Dangerously kind of flick. Does that kind of stuff resonate or play at all with anyone younger than Gen X? Maybe Jurassic Millennial? I love that stuff but I’m getting older by the minute. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

Entertainment-wise, I think we’re in a period like the early 70s. A lot of grittyness, morose feelings with some underlying anger. The entertainment reflects the mood of the country at the moment. And the Pop Tart movie is definitely not that.

They’re remaking The Naked Gun with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. I don’t know what the take will be, but seems like a long shot to have a wide connection. Does that kind of comedy still have mass appeal?

But maybe it all does come around. There was a long drought before Austin Powers filled that space.

Thank you for reading my ramble.

Godzilla Minus One is an awesome, awesome flick.

The CGI was top-notch, and the plot was simple and executed to a T, unlike the “Monsterverse” movies that are needlessly convoluted.

Had a very fun time at the new Bad Boys. Part of it was my theater was packed and the crowd was very into it and made the whole thing a blast to watch. But it's a good action flick and Lawrence especially was great.

Just watched “Hitman” on Netflix and enjoyed it, although I think “based on a true story” might be a bit of a stretch.

Actually, the main character was a bit of a 21st Century Professor Indiana Jones.

Halfway through Godzilla Minus One. Good film. The Jaws reference midway through is outstanding.
