Are the people who swear it's the best movie this year idiots? Not hating, just asking. That movie looks like a giant turd to me.

I've heard the same thing as a lot of people on here... It's a great movie that was marketed in a very misleading way because they thought having Seth Rogen would help it open big. I get the impression that the people who hated it thought they were going to see Knocked Up or Pineapple Express and got a very dark film.

I haven't seen it, but one of my closest friends whose movie taste mirrors mine says it's the best movie he's seen this year.

Just finished "11:14" or, as I like to call it, "Patrick Swayze and Hilary Swank needed a paycheck."

Not a terrible film but it's like watching one scene of a flick and that being it. Liked the idea of the movie but the execution was off.

The chick in the cemetery was hot as hell though.

Just saw "Coraline" last night. Watched it in pitch black in 3D like I was told.
This was one of the best movies I have watched in a while. It is TOTALLY NOT for kids, and was very well written and done.
The wife used the term, "New Willy Wonka creepy"
    So awesome.

I never judge a movie by expectations or how it's marketed ... and I felt Observe and Report was very gratuitous and, at times, pointless. And I consider myself a pretty fair judge of films.

Saw "Tropic Thunder" tonight and freakin' loooooved it. The new catch phrase in my dressing room at the theatre is "We are trained actors, motherfucker!" delivered in our best Robert Downey voices.

Funny you mention TT. I just got done watching Iron Man for the first time since I saw it in theaters. Love that movie.

Yeah, some of it drags and the main villain is a bit of a letdown, but man, when it's on it's on. Loved Stark as a character, loved all the time they spent developing the weapon.

Stoked to see IM2, especially after the Fury cameo in the credits. Good stuff.

I've never seen "The Core" but did love this review that absolutely tears it apart. It's from a nerdy site that dissects movie physics. They call "The Core" the most unrealistic physics movie ever made.

Rented "The Soloist" and watched with my wife and daughter. It didn't seem to last long in the cinema, but I thought it was really good.

They played this on the plane during my return from a trip home last week and I decided not to watch it. It looks excellent, but I didn't think I'd properly enjoy it on the plane. Downey and Foxx are both such good actors, I'm looking forward to renting it.

Watched "Watchmen" the other night. I'm a little conflicted. I liked some stuff and had some problems with other stuff. (Oh, and one caveat, I've never read the graphic novel, so I'm basing all opinions strictly on the merits of the film.)

On one hand, I found the masked heroes kind of cheesy. Night Owl was a blatant rip-off of Batman, for instance, and most of them don't seem to have any real powers, they're just great fighters. It was too long. The makeup on some people was really bad (Nixon, old Carla Gugino, for instance).

On the other hand, Rorshach was an awesome character and Jackie Earle Haley delivered one of the best performances by someone playing a comic book character I've seen (though certainly well behind Heath Ledger). He really kept me into the movie. I liked the conclusion (I won't spoil it, but it was much more complex and well executed than most black/white, good/evil endings to comic book movies). I liked that it was rated R, allowing it to go places most comic book movies won't. The soundtrack was solid.

Overall, I'd say I liked it, but I didn't like it nearly as much as I thought it would when I saw the trailer in IMAX before The Dark Knight.
