Paul Rudd is America's Best Friend.

The chair scene in Knocked Up and then the parlay of the Matsui scene, locked it up for me.

"I know who I am, I'm the dude, playing the dude, disguised as another dude!"

Last thing I watched was The Good Shepherd, came on one of my premium channels and seeing as I am a big Matt Damon fan, I decided to watch.

Pretty good film, interesting story and some pretty good performances.

Got home from work around 1 a.m. last night and caught a late-90s double feature on the Encore channels that kept me awake until 5:30 -- Office Space, followed by Armageddon. Hadn't seen either uncut and in full in a while. Good times. Especially since the wife let me sleep until 1 p.m. today.

Adventureland - What sort of alternate universe did this piece of tripe come from? Who knew the entire population of Pittsburgh in 1987 were indie rock loving emo kids?

Kitten [the present Bad Gal Zero] and I went to see Away We Go last night. Solid flick. We had issues with the ending based solely on dialog. But it wasn't enough to diminish from what was a nice little dramedy. We watched Role Models when we got home. Meh. As is typical of too many mainstream comedies a lot of the funny moments are thrown away in the trailer. And as is typical of said flicks it starts out uproariously funny and then provides fewer laughs as the film progresses. Kitten fell asleep towardsa the end. I tried to fill her in on what she missed this morning and she decided that she really didn't care.

Watched "Pineapple Express" again tonight. Definitely not as good as the first time around, IMO. Runs way too long.

Loved that movie. Thought both Downey and Fox were brilliant. Is it already out on DVD, though? Haven't seen any commercials for it.

I got an advance copy of "Big Fan" with Patton Oswalt...

One of the biggest surprises I've seen this year and possibly the best film I've seen this year.

    julie and julia ...

there's a tiny moment when julie's (adams) hubby gets up to put more salt on her grand dish she makes for the nyt reporter who has to cancel at the last minute.

it's a metaphor for the movie, which has some terrific moments, truly, but still seems like it needs a few more pinches of salt and pepper and a few more splashes of sherry in the recipe.

streep is very good. adams is ... i think i love her ... but she comes up short in a handful of scenes even though the camera makes love to her face throughout. i read somewhere that paul rudd is america's best friend. well, amy adams is america's girl next door (but stay the fuck away, boots).

even after two hours of yummy-looking food galore, i was left hungry for more, although a lot of the execution was solid. julie's cooking of the live lobsters in concert with the talking heads' "psycho killer" is funny.

it's a souffle that didn't rise to the top.

    3.25 stars out of 5.
