Actually, I read Ebert's review of the version that was edited after the debacle at Cannes. He did a complete flip on it, going from one of his most scathing reviews to a pretty positive one.

I described it as like having a two-hour heart attack.

Watched "District 9" the other night. It was late, dozed off after the main character and Christopher Johnson break into MNU and then woke up with him and the Iron Man suit.

    Extract.
Lousy direction killed a good script.
So Mike Judge has no one to blame but himself.

    I saw The Proposal.

Better than most romantic comedies. Liked it more than I thought I would.

"(500) Days of Summer" followed by "Taking Woodstock" in a sneaky, one-ticket double feature in nearly empty theatres.

I bawled through much of the first half of Summer -- it's been a rough week, or maybe just too much transference? ::) -- but wound up really liking it. I'm still not sure whether it was a total cliche or incredibly original.

I was disappointed by Woodstock. Why was the movie about a 20-something gay Jewish boy instead of the music?

Kitten and I went to see (500) Days of Summer last weekend. We were both disappointed with it.

I went to see Thirst last night. I didn't think that movie would ever end. After 2 1/2 hours of what felt like Stanley Kubrick directing Evil Dead - except with vampires - I decided that I'm writing off Park Chan-Wook as a filmmaker. True, the guy directed one of the best movies of the decade [Oldboy], but he's also directed another awful movie [Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance] and one that had moments of brilliance but ultimately left me feeling "meh" [Lady Vengeance].

I haven't seen 500 Days of Summer yet, but most of my friends who have seen it were disappointed by it. We were going to see it last Saturday, but backed out and saw The Proposal instead.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" on DVD. I hadn't watched it in a while, but man that's a good movie.
