"Deadline USA" is one of my favorites. That's a good one.

A friend of mine saw a screening of "The Road" tonight. I am in awe of the book, nervous as hell about even the idea of adapting it, but encouraged by everything I've heard about the film.

Good, but not great, IMO. A marginally funny comedy good for some laughs in the moment, but that you'll forget about the second you leave the theatre.

Not that that's such a bad thing. It's good for a couple hours mindless entertainment.

I saw "A Serious Man" over the weekend. I'd love to get thoughts from others, especially non-Jews. I liked it - it was very much a Coen brothers kind of movie - but there were so many Jewish references (the first 10 minutes are so are in Yiddish) that I wonder about the mass appeal of the movie. Two people in my row walked out about an hour into it.

i grew up with the lead, mike stuhlbarg and was in summer stock with him in 2 plays. he's a great guy and so deserving to finally be in the movie spotlight. he was nominated for a tony a few years ago.

    "It Might Get Loud."

Davis Guggenheim ("An Inconvenient Truth") got together Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page to shoot the breeze about playing the guitar. Just a fascinating conversation with three geniuses. Any time you can hear the best of the best talk about how they do what they do, it's enlightening. White was charmingly in awe of the other two, which shows that genius can always learn more. Well worth a look if you have an art theater nearby.

I saw "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" yesterday with my nieces (3 & 5). It was cute. They liked it. I was happy the matinee price was only $4.75.
