Watched Defiance, with Daniel Craig. It was pretty good, a little melodramatic in some places but pretty good. I didn't get any real emotional charge out of it as I think the filmmakers expected (well, maybe not from me specifically, but in general).

    Saw "Couples Retreat" it sucked.

  3. I know I'm late to the party, but I finally saw the Watchmen.
    LOVED IT!
A great film adaption to the novel. So well done.
My only quibble was the lack of an origin story for Ozymandias.

I really had no interest in seeing it until I realized that I went to junior high with the fifth male lead (Waleed Zuaiter, who plays the Iraqi guy Clooney runs over in all the trailers). He also played one of Saddam's lackeys in HBO's "House of Saddam" and will be in "Sex and the City 2". I've been Facebook friends with his wife (whom I also went to school with back in the old days) for a long time and had no idea he was that accomplished as an actor until she started mentioning it in her status messages.

Probably will check it out this weekend if I have time ...

I thought it would be better than it was (never read the graphic novel), but it was still solid ... It made me wish there were more "superhero" movies made that are rated 'R'. I see so many that would be better if they went above a PG-13 rating (I LOVED the Dark Knight, but if it were rated 'R' I think it would have been incredible).

On another note, I just watched "Live Free or Die Hard" and the only thing it left me wondering was whether Renny Harlin feels like a complete piece of shit for making the only Die Hard movie that sucked.

OK, the end with the F-35 was pretty ridiculous (20x more ridiculous than "killing" the helicopter), but they had a FUCKING F-35!!!! That plane is awesome enough to let me overlook a lot of shit.

So here's my ranking .... DIE HARD 1; DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE; LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD; THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN; HOME ALONE 2; DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER.

The Damned United. Drove just over an hour to see it, because no cinema in town was showing it.

Michael Sheen is, again, excellent, as is Timothy Spall. If it's near you, try to catch it. If it isn't, then I'd try to rent it when the DVD appears.

Watched three movies this past week:
Men who stare at goats: solid movie, almost ruined by the lady sitting next to me.

    Rented 2:
Observe and report: terrible movie, one of the worst of the year.

Year One: Saw it in the theatre, still a few laughs, decent movie to veg out too, nothing to take serious.

Watched GI Joe on DVD last night. It was OK. Glad I didn't spend more than $1 on it. Last time in theatre I saw Amelia. It was OK. Wish I hadn't spend more than $1 on it. Before that, Law Abiding Citizen, which I really enjoyed.

Watchmen was cool, and I love me some Malin Ackerman.

"The Tale of Despereaux" on demand... Cute, but it's no "Ratatouille!"

The Goods -- better than I thought it was going to be, but then that doesn't say a whole lot. It was at least tolerable

Finally saw Stranger than Fiction. Loved it, though Emma Thompson freaked me out a LOT.
