I went to see "The Blind Side." That will be in my DVD collection in a few months.

Admittedly, I have not read the Lewis book, but there seems to be very little that wasn't broached. Sure, the happy spots are there, but the questions bubbling under the surface were answered - at least to my liking.

If Michael Oher had that kind of ability to forget - or even one-tenth of it - he's one of the best people any of us will get to know. Times like this, I feel like a freaking elephant. And it has to stop.

Anyway, I walked in wondering why so many critics/reviewers/wannabes were lining Sandra Bullock up for awards. Yeah, the accent wasn't that outstanding - most actors trying to use one stink at it - but the character was top-notch. With any luck, Leigh Anne Tuohy was really like that, too.

    Fire away, folks ...

2012.... the worst movie-going experience of my life.

    How so?

Oh, and for those interested, I've watched the first three minutes of 10.5 Apocalypse today. Don't know if I'm watching the rest. It doesn't look good.

OK, update time. I got 23 minutes in and 10.5 Apocalypse is, BY FAR, the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen. That's it, I can't take it. I give up. Gone from the DVR.

Poorly acted, written and produced cliche ever.

And, the effects are boring to some extent... we've seen this all before.

On The Beach remains the gold standard of the genre. Shute had a great idea, and wrote it.
Cast's great, film's broadly understated, but will leave you aching. Powerful work.

Watched Charlie Wilson's War late last night.

I really enjoyed it. The final quote wrapped it up so well "All these things have happened, and they were glorious…and then we fucked up the end game".

Finally rented the new "Star Trek." Overall, I liked it. Enjoyed seeing the "origins" of some of the old TV show characters, but the plot was a little creaky -- especially how they worked "old Spock" in.

Of course, no plot will ever be as bad as the Star Trek movie where they talk to whales!

Saw 2012. Good mindless entertainment, which is what I needed.
