Funny that Judd Apatow has hit the wall so soon after he was being acclaimed as a genius and whatnot.

Maybe he started doing too much too soon and spread himself thin. Thoughts?

Hard to say, but I do know I started feeling like his movies were all the same about the time when "Knocked Up" was released. Thought his last really great film was "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," and that was back in 2005. Everything since then has been same sophomoric shit, different title.

But even that was enjoyable and had a market. "Funny People" just seems like an exercise in self-indulgence. A 150-plus minute movie starring his wife and his best friend, totally unfocused and seeming to try to recreate experiences from his own life.

Apatow reached a point where studios would greenlight anything he put his name on, and instead of doing something innovative he did something hackneyed.

I just watched the extraordinary crapburger that was the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Why didn't they just save a bunch of time and money and just urinate on the original print of the '51 film? The remake was egregiously horrid.

    Saw "The Blind Side."

    I heavily recommend it, even to non-sports fans. It's a great flick all-around. 3.5/5.

Four Christmases - highly reccommended if you're looking for a movie to sit around and watch with extended family over the holidays. Both my parents stayed awake through the whole thing (which is a four star review from them) - some big laughs, Vince Vaughn is Vince Vaughn, Reese is always easy to look at for a couple of hours and some decent cameos. Would have loved to attend the wrap party with righties Robert Duvall and Jon Voight mixing with lefties Sissy Spacek and Mary Steenburgen.

So often the case. Excepting the likes of an
"Oceans 11", in which the new version was
    conceived with a markedly-different approach
(and that's no knock on the original, which stands very well on its own merits, thanks),
virtually all remakes are markedly inferior to the originals.

Saw "Four Christmases" again last night. Better than the first time around.

    Steenburgen was pretty hot!

Took the wife to see Brothers on Saturday night. Yeah, um....that was one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. First time in a long, long, long time I left the theatre saying "I really didn't like that movie." Great cast, great acting, though, But damn disturbing.

HC & I watched "All of Me" last night on TCM (HD now). Have seen this several times but Steve Martin is absolutely brilliant in this flick. .

The final scene with Martin and Lily Tomlin dancing as the credits roll is delightful.

Saw Brothers on Saturday night and The Messenger last night. I thought they were both great. And it really shows what the war is doing. As I told the fiance, that's the war we never see.
