    No doubt about it.

    Saw "Did you hear about the Morgans?" last night.

    Not bad actually. I liked the plot, but it could have been much better. Not a fan of SJP and Hugh Grant at all.

    Overall, probably a B-.

    I thought Invictus was pretty solid, except for the rugby scenes. Way too much slo-mo, and too many tight shots of people scrumming, and especially, the winning drop-goal, which I think took like five minutes.

    I read somewhere that Morgan Freeman, both in his appearance and vocal cadence, was born to play Mandela. And yes, Damon gives an excellent performance (though he is apparently significantly smaller than Pienaar and most of the Springboks).

    I watched "Elf" again last night. It's a cute movie. Zooey Deschanel not only looks great, she does a terrific job singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside." In the shower. Zounds. :D

    Caught up with The Road this weekend....very well done. Grim as all hell, of course, but that was a given.

    Went and saw Did you Hear About the Morgans yesterday with Mrs. Novelist. It was OK, I guess, some reasonably funny moments, but the city folk being transplanted into flyover country story has been done to death. Sadly, it will continue to be done, as long as Ryan Kavanaugh thinks it's bankable. Which might continue in perpetuity.

    I was surprised how good Mary Steenbergen looked.

    I thought Avatar was terrific, though the 3D didn't really add much for me, which is the opposite of what I'm hearing from most people. Didn't make it worse, but I just didn't think it improved things.
    Also saw several on DVD recently:
    Sunshine Cleaning (good movie, I'm an Amy Adams fan);
    Star Trek (fell asleep watching it at the drive-in, but only because I was really tired. It was very entertaining, and I'm not at all a Star Trek guy);
    What Doesn't Kill You (Mark Ruffalo and Ethan Hawke crime movie, pretty good)
    Food, Inc. (Doc about where our food comes from, mostly stuff I already knew but always scary, sad and anger-inducing)
    Up (already saw it in the theater, but reinforced that it's my favorite movie of the year).
