HATED that movie. Serious waste of money and time.

I'm not a movie critic, but I can tell you Kick-Ass will entertain you. That is if you like funny/dark movies. I remember reading the comic last summer and loving it.

Redbox, man. That'll ease the money woes. Time, I can't help you there.

Watched Sixth Sense again with Mrs. Novelist last night, and it still plays. M. Night's other stuff has become cliche, but this movie keeps the chill bumps coming.

His best, by a hundred lengths -- though I have no desire ever to see it again.

Just finished watching "Silverado." It truly has a great plot that ties together well and features a cast of breakthrough stars.

I wish someome would try to jump start the western genre again. "Apaloosa" was all right, but nothing special.

The 3:10 to Yuma remake didn't suck, though the original was superior.

  8. Agreed.
    As far as recent Westerns
The Missing (Tommy Lee Jones and Kate Blanchett) was good.
I liked Open Range - I like Costner movies.
Hidalgo was good too - even though it is completely made up.
TNT also made some good westerns Monte Walsh, Crossfire Trail and a few others.

I watched "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3D Monday. Loved it. The animation was spectacular, the story was moving. Good pace, had some LOL moments. Some of the dragons looked extremely familiar, as if the animations were borrowed or something.

Overall, I thought it was spectacular.

It was quite good. Maybe Dreamwork's best outside the original Shrek.

It was made by some of the people who did Lilo and Stitch. The main dragon character has a lot of Stitch qualities, at least in terms of the animation, if you think about it.

I like most Costner movies which feature a ball and something resembling
a sporting event. Tin Cup still rules.

    The others, not so much.

  12. Finally watched The Hurt Locker and Law Abiding Citizen the other day.

Hurt Locker was good but it really didn't blow me away. Certainly not to the point of winning the Oscar for best picture. It seemed like the Iraqi version of Blackhawk Down. It wasn't quite as intense and had a bit more character development but it had a similar type of feel for me.

Law Abiding Citizen is an f'd up movie. I really thought it was just a straight suspense/thriller type. But with all of the gore in it, it might as well have been classified as a horror movie. It was OK but it was fairly easy to read and (SPOILER) even though Butler's character turned into a maniacal killer, I still felt bad for him at the end. Just not at all what I expected.
