I don't think a lot of people, including myself, thought it was going to be a movie of his origin. But regardless, it wasn't that bad. Tho, Robin Longstride? Thought he was Robin of Loxley. Then again, it's just a legend. Would have liked to have a seen a younger Robin Hood - not that Crowe was a bad fit, just a younger one, that's all.

Saw "State of Play" last night. Rachel McAdams can share a byline with me anytime.

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

Best movie I've seen so far this year.

There are echoes of "The Ghost Writer" (which was my earlier favorite) but Dragon Tattoo is gritty, nasty and very entertaining.

Hollywood's going to make an American version -- the lead female role is one of the most sought after in ages. I can see why. Hope that they go with an unknown, because she'll be typecast as "Lisbeth" for the rest of her career. (Although Megan Fox would be my choice if they go with a big-time star).

I thought I read somewhere that Brad Pitt and the Juno chick were signed to play the lead parts and Fincher will direct.

Nothing's firm; everything you've read is rumor (well, beyond Fincher directing.) Leader in the clubhouse is Ellen (Juno) Page and Carey Mulligan.

I'm reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" right now. It's great. I'm pumped for the movie (and Fincher's version too).

While reading, I picture Aubrey Plaza as Lisbeth. She plays April on Parks and Rec.

Whip It. Cute, but like Juno (whatta surprise, given the cast and studio),
a handful of not-so-subtle life lessons are included in the package.

    Just watched 'Chinatown.'
It has been a very long time since my previous viewing.
    Still terrific.

Whenever Chinatown comes up, I can't help but think of the wondrous LA river.

In the movie, he was adopted as the son of Sir Walter Loxley so I guess that makes him Robin of Loxley now. This one felt a bit like a prequel to me. At the end they were showing him and Maid Marian in the woods with everyone, including Friar Tuck, and I'm sure the sequel is on the way ...

  11. Saw Iron Man 2 over the weekend. Thought it was better than the first one.

Anyone else see Barfly a week or so ago? One of my all-time favorites.

Faye Dunaway: I hate people, don't you?
Mickey Rourke: I don't hate them but I prefer it when they're not around.
