I wondered about the accuracy of the craft, particularly those big-ass lumbering bombers. Was that a reason for the thumbs down, or other?

Read over the weekend on Deadline Hollywood that Sex in/on/and/but/or The City cost $95 mil to make. Surprised me, because you'd think the producers could sign the cast for peanuts considering they really aren't doing much else. Anybody seen it? Where did the money go?

Also read on Deadline Hollywood that there is a plan for a sequel to Midnight Run with both DeNiro and Grodin on board.

It's filmed (or at least set) in Abu Dhabi. That probably wasn't cheap.

    Shot in Morocco, I think.

The film was indeed shot in Morocco. And it stank. I enjoyed the original series as a fantasy and the first movie was fun because it tied up loose story lines. This one had four women who had it all complaining about their lives. Awful.

If they do another one, it's going to bordering on "Golden Girls" material (if it isn't already).

I don't know, it seems like the actors could hold up the studio for a lot of cash because there is no movie without the four girls. The movie has a built in audience that will show up no matter how much the movie stinks. If the women don't sign on to do the movie, and I'm sure none of them are hurting for cash at this point, the studio misses out on an easy payday for itself.

Just speculation on my part, though.

One of my all-time favorite movies. And I actually don't hate this idea.

So, I watched A Serious Man, and almost the entire movie went over my head. After doing a little research, apparently the movie is a retelling of the Book of Job, which explains why I didn't get a lot of the story.

We watched 'A Serious Man' last week. I thought it was quite good.
I don't know if it was worthy of a best picture nomination, but it was very good.

The original is an all-timer. Given DeNiro's recent track record, I no longer trust that his presence in a movie means anything. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but most of his jobs in the last 20 years have been for a huge paycheck and nothing else. I couldn't tell you the last thing I've seen Grodin in that didn't involve a gigantic dog.

Watched Up In The Air. Damn, that was a strong movie.

Loved the Clooney character, felt bad about his ultimate fate with Alex but I guess that makes sense, right?

As for the ending (spoiler warning). Based on the reviews I read here, I was always under the assumption that Clooney's character got fired by the girl he was training to replace him. Surprised when that didn't happen.

All in all, a solid, solid flick. The best "Best Picture" nominee from last year that I've seen thus far. (I've seen Avatar, Blind Side, Inglorious Basterds and most of District 9/The Hurt Locker)
