I absolutely love "Up in the Air." Dunno what it is about it, but it's so relaxing in a way.

I saw "Iron Man 2" a couple of nights ago. Not bad at all - a lot better than I expected - but I thought the ending was really rushed and the Stark/Pepper love thing was really forced. Could have saved that to be more developed in the third flick. Overall, I've really enjoyed the Iron Man series a lot.

I just think the end was a bit letdown. Again.

In the first movie, there wasn't a clear villain to root against and the last battle scene was basically like a rocket that lifts off, gets 50 feet in the air and then crashes to the ground without warning.

The sequel had a great villain with a great story ... until he gets 'rescued' from jail. He went from being a badass who was quite possibly the best developed villain of the modern comic book movies to being a useless character you almost forget about to finishing the movie without a purpose.

That last fight scene had so much potential. Stark and War Machine battle countless rogue machines for what seems like a half hour and then the big boss comes, they begin an epic battle and, boom, it's over? In like three minutes? WTF?

I left Iron Man 2 feeling blah about it. The only saving grace was Scarlett Johansson and her absolutely amazing fight scenes. Too bad she was criminally underused.

    Love Midnight Run.

Could Grodin pull off the character again would be my concern.

    Anyway, Marvin's in:

I finally watched "Invictus," and absolutely loved it. I hope the soccer World Cup can have as significant an impact on South Africa as it seemed rugby did, 15 years ago.

Agree completely. They could have gone another 30 minutes more and I would have not been the least bit disappointed. The end lacked incredibly.

Old flick category: Nothing I wanted to watch while I worked at home today, so I had on the "old flick channel."

"Shout at the Devil," Lee Marvin, Roger Moore. Awesome. Marvin is a poacher in Africa during the onset of WWI. He and Moore start by getting cheeky with the local German garrison, then go full-out gorilla when war is declared. Marvin is so cool in it: self-aggrandizing, a bit of a drunk, scheming, hilarious.
