After having it on the DVR for about 10 days, I finally sat down and watched "Up."

Thoroughly enjoyed it. There were many parts that were touching and others that had me laughing out loud, and overall a good story told very well.

And whoever it was (it was on this thread or the Oscars thread we had) commenting on how well done the backstory was in the first 10-15 minutes was spot on.

It was also on a thread about the movie when it first came out. I thought that was easily the best part of the movie.

Just watched Toy Story 3 with my kids... Loved it.

    Best trilogy ever.

When I think "trilogy," I think a pre-planned series of three movies that tell one continuous story, such as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Toy Story doesn't qualify. If the first one had flopped, there wouldn't have been a TS 2, let alone a TS 3.

I can honestly say that every time I see a dog that's had surgery or whatever, I think "He's wearing the Cone of Shame". And it makes me giggle every time.

Toy Story is continuos. The kid ages. He's a kid in the first one and he's heading off to college in the third one.

Yeah, I get that. But it wasn't planned as a trilogy. It was planned as one movie, which happened to be extraordinarily successful, and thus resulted in sequels.

If 'Star Wars' had flopped, there would have been no subsequent movies.

Exactly. And while Lucas did have an overall story in mind, it was nowhere near as fleshed out as the legend would have people believe.

I do get the distinction Sneak is making. Most likely, there was no story in mind at all for a Toy Story sequel until the original did so well.

You mean he didn't have Luke and Leia making out in "The Empire Strikes Back" only to reveal they were brother and sister in "Return of the Jedi" on purpose?

Saw it this weekend with the kids and loved it. There are some poignant moments that are not the easiest for kids. Some absolutely hilarious, LOL, moments. Great job.

Just saw it today and thought it was outstanding. I've never seen my 5-year-old so involved in a plot. He was definitely concerned a few times but came away happy. I know a lot of people consider Toy Story 2 one of the better sequels of all time. This one holds its own. The three movies together definitely form a pretty good continuous story.
