If you're neutral or worse about Burton, it's a tough slog, until the final third of it.

Saw Grown Ups over the weekend. Really enjoyed it.

Watched G.I. Jane on HBO the other day, too. Pretty good movie. Fuckabuncha Navy SEALS training.

Started to watch Crimson Tide last night for the 5,836th time. The wife made an executive decision and we were soon watching something else.

Given your well-known feelings about a certain football program, the fact that that seems to be one of your favorite movies is the very definition of irony.

    Trust me. I know.

And really, there's only one cringe-worthy part in the movie that reflects my well-known feelings about that certain football program. Other than those three seconds, yes, it's definitely in my top 10.

  5. Saw Grown Ups, thought it was average at best. Really not that funny, not much of an actual story. Big old Meh.

That movie is at nine percent on rotten tomatoes. NINE. That's hall of shame territory.

  7. I don't know if it was THAT bad but it sure as hell wasn't good. It was one of those flicks where they thought the star power could carry it without a story or a script. I guess the star power is making it bank but it didn't make for a good movie, that's for sure.

Next to Knight and Day, Grown Ups is Citizen Kane.

    Grown-Ups was pretty damn funny.

I'm not going to claim it's the greatest movie of all-time, but it compares favorably to most of Sandler's recent movies.

Is that what they call damning with faint praise? :D

I liked the ensemble cast. Sandler was less goofy that he usually is and the movie had a nice mix of fart jokes and a nice family message.

There are definitely some aspects of this movie I could have done without (Rob Schneider and the older wife) but mostly, I thought it was pretty funny.
