I'd definitely recommend Grown-Ups to people who like Sandler.

I'll give Grown-Ups a solid B, with the caveat being that you probably have to be a Sandler fan to like it.

  3. I like Sandler in general, but this one just never got me. A couple of funny moments but I thought Rock was underutilized in a big way and there was way too much Schneider.

Schneider was the worst part of the movie. I thought Kevin James and Spade were very funny and I agree Rock wasn't used that much.

Rock's character in the movie was cringeworthy.

Yeah, there are some people who can't play against type and Chris Rock is at the very top of that list.

    The Vanishing.

If I hadn't already known the ending, it would have been one of the scarier movies I've ever seen.

In an intellectual sort of way, I can safely call it one of the best thrillers I've ever seen, even though I wasn't shocked by an ending I already knew.

Highly recommended. Puts almost any modern "horror" movie to shame.

Did you see the original or the American remake?

    The original.

Didn't know there was a remake...

Good. Saw the original in the theatre knowing nothing about it. When it ended, the entire audience was sitting in their seats looking as if we'd all been hit in the head with ball-peen hammers.

    Disingenuous advertising, part 3,258 ...

Just saw a promo for "Knight and Day" on ESPN. One of the critic blurbs was "Entertaining. -- Roger Ebert"

    Here's what Ebert actually wrote:

"The movie is entertaining, but could have been better."
