I enjoyed "Cyrus." There's some funny Jonah Hill scenes, but I thought his character was unsettling and creepy. I know this may sound silly, but he's got some pretty intense eyes. And watching the movie, looking at his eyes, he didn't seem all there. Really knocked it out of the park, I thought. Kid's life turned upside down by the addition of his mom's new boyfriend. John C. Reilly is truly hilarious, but again, like Hill, it's a departure from his previous roles. Can't go wrong with Marisa Tomei either.

Watched Bottle Shock last night while downing a nice bottle of red wine. Decent flick. Couple of funny parts. A bit cliched at the end, but oh well.

    "500 Days of Summer"

    Interesting to say the least.

Edge of Darkness last night. Glad I only paid $1 at Redbox. Today, I'm going to see The Last Airbender with Novelist Jr. Not really looking forward to it.

  5. The Last Airbender actually looks kind of interesting but I will gouge my eyes out before I ever pay money to see an M. Night movie again. I've been duped too many times. On my list of worst movies I've ever seen, he's probably got about half of the top 10.

I have made a vow not to see anything in the theater until Inception comes out. Saving money and saving brain capacity from something great.

I guess the saying in Hollywood is that for every hit movie you make, you're allowed to make three bombs. I would M. Knight has two bonafide hits (Sixth Sense and Signs) and arguably another (Unbreakable). For the record, I think Unbreakable is his best movie.

I haven't seen everything he's done since, I don't remember what was the most recent piece of garbage "Lady in the Water" or "The Village"

The Village would make my list of the worst big time studio movies I've seen in a theater.

It was "The Happening" and it was terrible.

I haven't been looking forward to anything this much since before Christmas 1976, when I spotted a Free Spirit Bicycle hidden away in the attic.

I hope the movie turns out better than that Christmas did. Turns out my dad was storing the bike as a favor for the neighbor. Not only did I not get a new bike, my rival neighbor did!

  10. I agree that his best movie was Unbreakable. The Sixth Sense wasn't bad though I thought the "plot twist" was pretty obvious. It didn't have me guessing and shock me like The Usual Suspects or something.

But Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water and especially The Happening are among the worst movies I've ever seen. I think the Happening is the dumbest, most ridiculous movie I've ever seen, for sure. It doesn't help that M. Night is a self indulgent A-hole.

I liked 'Unbreakable', but then again I love comic books and comic book style movies.

I also thought Unbreakable was his best, followed by Sixth Sense, then Signs. I thought The Village was decent and Lady in the Water was OK, not nearly as bad as everyone else does.

The Happening might be the worst film I've ever seen and cemented Marky Mark's place in my brain as the worst actor out there.

Just watched Funny People last night and enjoyed it immensely. It was too long (like 2 1/2 hours), and started slowly, but it had some laugh out loud moments and more plot and character development than you usually see in a comedy. Sandler was excellent.
