"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Amazing. Had not read the book and loved the story. And I never mind subtitles.

Followed very closely by Patrick Wilson at his absolute smarmiest and former teen heartthrob Brian Bloom giving himself most of the best lines.

Also watched "Date Night." A very pleasant surprise considering the trailer was terrible. Well-written script and very funny.

The other two films are out there now too (as in on the interwebs or through import DVDs). I have not seen them yet and instead opted to read the last two books. I must say they're pretty damn good reads.

If Fincher directs that trilogy and Pitt and Page or Scarlett star in it, it will be a must see.

Went to see "Predators" today. I was a little nervous going in since the reviews have been mixed, but ended up enjoying the hell out of it. I think it helps that it's a sequel and not a remake (there's a scene where they directly reference Arnie's jungle tussle and another, later callback to it). There was enough new stuff that made it fun, enough callbacks to the original to keep the fanboys happy, and even a few "Aliens" references and easter eggs if you watch closely. I swear one of the Predators' helmets included part of an Alien skull.
It was definitely a good, solid action flick that works well as a sort of "Predator 3".

Just saw "Public Enemies." Wasn't that bad. Actually enjoyed it.

I had really high expectations for that one and was pretty disappointed. I remember telling someone last summer that if someone had told me I was going to hate Christian Bale as John Conner and Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, I would have told them they were crazy.

Think "hate" is strong, but the thing was certainly scuttled by the high
expectations. I know the real-life storyline cold, so could manage, but I feel sorry for anybody who wasn't thoroughly-versed in the players
and situations, beforehand. For virgins, it had to be hell to follow.

I think I said this when it first came out (probably earlier in this thread), that my problem with the movie was that there was virtually no character development. Why did John Dillinger rob banks? Who knows? I guess the director thought no one cared.

Honestly, can't see anyone but Ellen Page in the role. I think Viggo Mortenson could be an interesting choice for Blomkvist.

My understanding is that Carey Mulligan has read for it as in talks.

Johansson would not be a physical fit and, knowing Fincher, that would be of some interest to him.
