Last movie you watched......

  1. Inception.

I loved it. I know it's getting mixed reviews and I understand why. But I really, really liked it. For no other reason than the fact that it was an original, creative, big budget flick that wasn't a sequel and had nothing to do with superheroes.

Saw 'The Invention of Lying' last night.
The idea was interesting and the some of it played out was great.
The insipid, nonsensical romantic storyline at the center of it was terrible.
Reminded me of 'Stranger than Fiction,' a good idea botched.

Yeah, the whole time I was watching it, I was thinking "Hasn't this movie already been made by Jim Carrey ... twice?" (Liar, Liar and Yes Man).

LOL. Me too, felt the same way. She seemed very much out of place.

I thought the movie was good at the beginning and then got significantly worse as it went on. I just ended up confused and lost when it looked like it was gonna be a pretty good flick.

My favorite movie. Washington is brilliant, and the cast is on as well. Fanning was excellent.

Caught bits and pieces of "Wanted" when I was in Vegas. Rewatched it today. Great flick.

While the plot is only so-so in terms of believability, the special effects are amazing. Best I've ever seen.

  8. Shutter Island was crap.

'The Runaways' was an absolutely pointless movie. Absolutely no substance whatsoever. It didn't even recreate the jailbait prurience for which it, apparently, felt so nostalgic.

'Book of Eli' was completely forgetable. I will say that it was better than 'Legion,' which I mistakenly watched in the theater at the same time 'Book of Eli' was out.

    Best you've ever seen? Really?

I liked the movie quite a bit, but the special effects - while good - were not eye-popping by any stretch. They augmented the movie nicely, but were not close to the best I've ever seen.

They were the best I've seen in that I couldn't believe what I was seeing was computer generated and that means a lot to me.

For instance, the scene where Jolie's character is driving the red car and swoops in and grabs the kid, all in one fluid motion, floored me.

Add in the part where the kid lifts his car up and over a limo to shoot the dude, not to mention pretty much every shootout and you've got some amazing work.

The only thing I would say trumps it is Avatar but I don't really consider those special effects in the same way as something like Wanted. It's one thing to make an entire movie via CGI, it's another to blend real world shots and computer shots with live action effects and that's why I'm still floored by what Wanted did.
