Last movie you watched......

Ok, gotcha. Now that you point them out, those differences seem obvious.
The only one that really affects the plot, though, in my opinion, is Lisbeth and the visit to Dag and his girlfriend.
The others, such as the defusing of the alarm, I see as ways to keep the plot moving in a two-hour movie. in the book, Blomkvist knows that the code because he knows about WASP. That's a lot of background that would have needed to be set up for a viewer who didn't read the book for a split-second scene in the film. The differences is the fight at the barn with the giant don't really affect the story line. Same with the car rental detail. Again, easier to just have her take the car there then add another few minutes into the movie.

I guess my originial point was that generally the plot followed along with the book. None of the major characters are missing, no new characters randomly appear in the film. Things unfold in the film pretty much the same way they unfold in the book.

I hate when movies stray too far from the book. The best example I can think of at the moment, which I mentioned above, is the Bourne films.

Either way, I thought both the Millenium books and the films were fantastic.

 

I just watched 'Australia' on HBO, and I loathe myself even more than I usually do.
What an awful movie.

 

Watched "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" the other night. Had some funny sequences, but fairly weak overall.

Elizabeth Banks continues the (not so) fine tradition, pioneered by Katherine Heigl and Kristen Bell, of women in wild sex comedies who inexplicably engage in wild sex without taking their bras off.

On the other hand, you do get to see Jason Mewes' penis and Seth Rogen's ass. So there's that.

 

Does www.myfreecams.com count as a movie if you stick on the same gal for two or three hours?

 

And, to crossthread, a truly craptacular scene ...

You can quibble about the ending (I will!), but this is a spectacular piece of work, and gorgeous, besides.

And anybody who complains that the first hour is slow going needs to
get out of second grade.

'Kull the Conqueror'
Whatever happened to Kevin Sorbo?

 

Too much work and insomnia forced me to watch "Rachel Getting Married," last night after work. That one is ... difficult.

 

"Kick-Ass" the other night. Damn, that's a good movie.

 

Saw 'The Other Guys' tonight. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. Had quite a few moments where I laughed out loud.

 

I had never seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High but watched it today. (I know, shoot me.) Enjoyable.

 

Last night I watched "One Last Thing."
Pretty good.
A 16-year-old boy, who is terminal because of brain cancer, hooks up with the Last Wish Foundation (or something like that). He lives in Philly. His wish is supposed to be getting a football signed by the Eagles quarterback.
But on the TV show to announce his wish, he says he wants to spend a week with supermodel Nikki Sinclaire.
An hour and a half later, he dies with a smile on his face.
The actor is Michael Angarano, who also played a terminal cancer patient in "Lords of Dogtown," the skateboard movie.
The supermodel is Sunny Mabrey, who I had never heard of but is smoking hot.
