Saw "Hard Candy" the other night: Disturbing. Watched "The White Ribbon" Saturday and that was about as bleak as they come. I need some lighter material.

Still largely lost in the shuffle, to the masses. The great '50s media daily double remains AFITC and The Sweet Smell of Success. I do my best
    to spread the word.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. ... best movie I've seen since Basterds.

Kick-Ass. ... pretty intense. The way Moretz talked reminded me of Tatum O'Neil in Bad News Bears. That edge.

Thursday night at the 24 cineplex did fairly decent business. But only four in the theater to see Get Low. Damn good. Robert Duvall ... what can you say? Loved him in just about everything, doesn't disappoint. Sissy Spacek, Bill Murray, Lucas Black all great. Terrific film. I'd love to see Bill Murray win best supporting actor for this role. Worth the 10.50.

We're going to "Get Low" tomorrow. Watched "The Motorcycle Diaries" the other night. Had never seen it and, not surprisingly, loved it.

Get Low was on at my theater for maybe a week. Didn't get a chance to catch it. Let us know how you like it.

Watched the 1997 film "Dirty Work" the other day. Lots of great one-liners but, overall, a little too poorly acted for me to really get into it like I could when I was younger.

Worth the two hours if you've never seen it/have a strong ability to ignore terrible acting.

Saw "The American" today. Very stylish. Very scenic. Very boring.

The upside was that there was great nudity, but overall, probably a C.

Machete - Taps into good '70s exploitation territory for the first half hour or so. After that it sort of meanders and gets weighed down by too many characters (especially the villains). All the women in the movie do a great job though. And I must say, Michelle Rodriguez ended up being far sexier than Jessica Alba. And Alba was on top of her game too.

"12th and Delaware," an HBO documentary about a Fort Pierce, Fla., street with an abortion clinic on one corner and a pro-pregnancy center on another.

Saw Date Night and Invictus on video the last two nights.

Wouldn't mind seeing Carrell and Fey team up for a few more movies. Their characters were pretty good.
Invictus was a solid movie. Hard to boil down that much history into two hours, but I'm glad they did.
