I just remembered another big fight with the same GF about another awful movie - 'Vertical Limit' with Robin Tunney and Chris O'Donnell.

What a bad movie. The GF loved it. She was very moved by the brother-sister bonding scene, at which I laughed out loud in the theater.

The breakup happened about two months later.

"Fair Game." AWESOME!!! Naomi Watts is excellent but of course is overshadowed by the unbelievable Sean Penn. His final speech had people clapping in the theater.

Watched Zombieland yesterday ... it dragged a little in the middle (which is tough to do in a 90-minute movie about running from zombies), but the beginning and end made it worth it. Enjoyable movie overall.

    Outstanding cameo, too.

When did IFC start running commercials? I tried to watch "Usual Suspects" last night, and 20 minutes in they were pushing Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. 20 minutes later, another five-minute block. I checked to make sure I wasn't on USA Network, then bailed.

I stumbled across Do They Serve Beer in Hell last night on Showtime. I had to give it a least a minute to see how truly awful I expected it to be. I think our paper gave it zero stars. I can't believe I'm going to say this, because I think Tucker Max is a pretty creepy human being, and by no means am I a fan, but I actually liked it. OK, the scene where he craps his pants in the hotel ... I could've done without. Aside from that, not nearly as juvenile as I expected.

Unstoppable, the little movie that could.

Little, that is, if you call a Tony Scott directing Denzel Washington, little.

But the train movie is pretty simple fair, but it's shot well, DW and Chris Pine have great chemistry, Rosario Dawson proves she's a very underrated star, and the movie works from beginning to end.

HC & I went to an 11;00 a.m viewing (only $6.00 seats) of "The Social Network". Good script, and damn fine acting by eveyone. Am going to get me a copy of "Accidental Billionaires'

I watched parts of the Messenger again today. Steve Buscemi's five-or-so minutes in the film are haunting. I love the scene where they get pulled over and Ben Foster tells the cop 'hey, you go deliver the news, pal.' Great movie.
I've gotta kill Showtime. Every so often they'll show excellent movies, but man, it's usually one turd after another. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I watched about five minutes of Brittany Murphy in Love and Other Disasters, which I'd never even heard of. I'd almost recommend it, at least for five minutes, just to hear the true awfulness of Murphy's British accent. Meanwhile, Foster's from Australia and sounds like he grew up in Kokomo, Indiana.

Loved 'The Messenger.' And, great call on Buscemi, wedge.

Saw 'The Tourist' last night, and ... umm ... quite boring.
