Saw about half of Gulliver's Travels today. Some idiot pulled a fire alarm and the entire mall, including the movie theaters, had to be evacuated. My little one wasn't feeling well (ate too much popcorn, I think), so we just took the raincheck and went home.

None of us really cares to see the rest of it. Some cute moments, but overall kinda dumb.

Jack Black was in it. Has he ever made a movie that wasn't dumb? To me, he's -2 in every movie. Needs to impress me to get me to like him.

True. I really wasn't expecting much. Just the better of the two options my 7-year-old was interested in. (Yogi Bear was the other, and that looks even dumber than the average kid movie.)

Yogi looks 10x better than Gulliver's. Did your kid have a good time? That's what matters.

Have to agree to disagree on that. I thought Yogi looked awful while Gulliver's looked merely bad. Wasn't my pick, though. Mrs. OOP wanted no part of Yogi, so she talked the little one into Gulliver's. The fact that little OOP doesn't want to go back to see the rest of it should tell you all you need to know.

It bombed at the box office, and I've found few who share my enthusiasm for it, but I just finished watching "Meet Joe Black" for the second time since 11pm. (Couldn't sleep at the parents' hacienda.)

Really like the flick, though. I think Pitt's performance is so u derappreciated.

The Other Guys - Wow, the faint praise I've seen about this one is puzzling. It's pure shit. Never mind the comedy writing here is dreck, they actually try to interweave legitimate commentary about Wall Street into the film. And not in a comprehensible way.

Black Swan - Excellent, but it's basically the same film as The Wrestler with the addition of the surreal. Definitely not feel good holiday fare.

I saw Black Swan last weekend and STILL don't know what I think about the movie. Some of the similarities with The Wrestler border on weird.

I like that one, too. Can't say much for Claire Forlani's acting, but she is so nice to look at.

God, I wish you hadn't posted this. Decided to go look it up and ...

    Now I'm horrified.

Maybe it was a coincidence and Flick's parents were just abusive.

Thank you! Now I feel better about it, AND I can relate to it more!
