Last movie you watched......

  1. Saw 'Winter's Bone' today. The setting really is like a main character in this flick ... very well done.

Agreed. I don't know what his M.O. has been lately, but it needs to stop.

Watched "The Town" last night. It was basically "Heat 2.0," but I loved "Heat," so I enjoyed "The Town." The similarities in the movies really are striking though. When Jon Hamm faced off with Affleck in the interrogation room and said he was going to "be the one there to tell you to go fuck yourself," I half expected Affleck to ponder it a moment and then reply, "There's a flip side to that coin."

Jeremy Renner is quickly rising among my favorite actors. It's fun watching an actor who can go from something like "The Hurt Locker" to his character in the "The Town."

Affleck and the girl didn't have a lot of chemistry, but it didn't distract me too much.

    I loved that movie.

We finally watched 'The Social Network' last night. Quite good, solid.
Sorkin's stylized dialogue was the worst part of it. I just don't care for the guy's work.

It wasn't so much the movie - I thought it was a cool concept and there was a lot about it I liked - it was him. I'm sick of him playing "that guy."

I agree, Renner is outstanding. I watched the Jeffrey Dahmer movie after the Hurt Locker and couldn't believe it was the same guy.

I hope to high hell that ridiculous Salander tattoo is not part of the movie.

    I liked Beer Wars.

Going through my list of "guy movies" that I have missed over the years and watched Apocalypse Now last night.

Might be one of the three best movies I've ever seen. From the acting, to the social commentary, to the cinematography and the brutal reality. I loved the way they framed Col. Kurtz's face in the shadows as he spoke to Willard. If anything, I finally understand the "the horror, the horror ..." line Peterman blurts out when he's in Burma (Myanmar) in that one Seinfeld episode in which he goes mad. :D

How does playing J. Edgar Hoover grab ya? He's also got The Great Gatsby in the works, but I have no idea when that starts shooting.

Awesome, Lisa! Directed by Clint Eastwood, co-starring Judi Dench? Sounds incredible.

I did, too, just wish it were more about beer.
