    The American...

    Just a beautiful movie.

Violente Placido (what a oxymoron of a name) was beautiful. As Mizzou said earlier, her almost constant lack of clothing was close to the only redeeming quaility in the film.

You didn't like the lack of dialogue to build tension or the cinematic framing of the landscape?

His stupid butterfly tattoo bothered me more than anything.

  7. Orphan. That was one sick ass "kid." That probably set back the adoption of Eastern European children by at least a decade.

Went to "127 Hours" in theater yesterday and then watched "Eat, Pray, Love" at home last night. Both felt really long. And 127 Hours was excruciating even though you know how it ends.

The black swan. A genre busting ballet horror film. I liked it, a lot.

Saw Red, it was better than expected. Good actors even in a mediocre vehicles can make a big difference. That's a solid rental, not sure it would've been worth seeing in the theaters.

Saw Buried, which definitely held my interest but wasn't ultimately memorable. There was no real "point" to it all and therefore it it truly forgettable. Chalk it up there with "Open Water" and other single-location films; ultimately, they are simply too limited in their means.

The Secret in their Eyes is absolutely fantastic and is highly recommended, although you need to either speak Spanish or be willing to read the subtitles and it is pretty plot-driven despite a fair amount of action. A cop/detective movie with great character touches as well as an understated, believable romantic angle.

Watched Saw: The Final Chapter and The Town yesterday.

Saw 7, as I like to call it, might be the most poorly acted, worst written installment in a series that I've enjoyed but, damn it if I don't want them to make a Saw 8.

As for the Town, that flick definitely got robbed of a Best Picture nom. I'm not saying it's the best picture of the year but top-10? Gotta be.

Reminds me of the awful movie I was forced into watching -- "Happy Endings"-- in which Lisa Kudrow gets hit by a car in the opening minute of the movie.

If they had called it "Watch Lisa Kudrow Get Hit By A Car", I'd have been so much more excited to watch it.
