Nude Nuns With Big Guns - This is what Machete was going for. I mean, it's a terrible movie any way you look at it, but it maintains that cool, funny exploitation vibe throughout.

"All Good Things." Cannot get enough of Ryan Gosling.

Just came back from seeing True Grit for the first time. Really enjoyed it. Great script, great cinematography, as always with the Coens. Hailee Steinfeldt (sp?) was outstanding.

Fargo is the best of those three, and I don't think it's terribly close.

No Country for Old Men is a good film - but it's the book put on film. There's not a ton of wiggle room, really. You read the book - you've seen the film.

True Grit is a perfectly lovely genre exercise, and that alone. The climax isn't much of one.

Fargo, on the other hand, is one of those movies that seems a bit dumb on first inspection. But, by about the third or fourth viewing, it grows into a lot more. It's one of the best films of last century.

She's a committed actor. Not always good. But committed to trying to be good, which is more than can be said for many. She is somewhat the opposite of Michelle Williams, who has all the talent, but remains inconsistent.

Hathaway is good when she's doing lower-budget stuff and usually pretty bad in the commercial stuff.

Michelle Williams is good at playing depressed, but not much else from what I've seen.

  7. I don't think I could sit through a third - let alone a fourth - viewing of Fargo.
    Guh.
    I don't get it.

I've heard a lot about that but haven't checked it out yet. Parked in that lot hundreds of times in college.

The Constant Gardener. Really enjoyed it. I thought it was beautiful, and that was probably the first thing I've ever seen Rachel Weisz in.

Plus, who doesn't love Ralph Fiennes?

Saw No Strings Attached last night. Good date movie.

The American on Bluray the other night. Thumbs down.

The Kingdom on DVD. Good stuff.

Watched "Howl" with James Franco as Allen Ginsberg. I was mesmerized by it. Could've used a little more Kerouac in the film, though.

I loved Jeff Daniels and David Straitharn in the courtroom as well. Two of my favorite actors in small but convincing roles.

She was good in About a Boy; Definitely, Maybe, The Shape of Things and Confidence.

Sadly, she's probably best known for the Mummy movies.
