    "Toy Story 2."

Perfect in almost every conceivable way.

If you liked the sequel, you'll love Toy Story 3 when you get around to seeing it in 12 years or so.

    ;)

As you can probably figure, I have 3 on the Netflix queue next :)

I watched the first one to reacquaint myself with it since it's been about 15 years, then I watched 2 for the first time ever today. So 3 is next.

Anybody seen Cedar Rapids yet? I'm intrigued, but it seems to be playing nowhere in the Western hemisphere.

Saw "District 9" on Encore a few days ago, and the list of movies that it blatantly stole from or at least had elements that reminded me of include:

    1. Blackhawk Down
    2. The Fly
    3. 28 Days Later
    4. Independence Day (which, of course, is the unapologetic shoplifter 12-pocket overcoat of movie thievery)
    5. Enemy Mine
    6. Iron Man (although, Iron Man may have come out first? I don't know, I saw Iron Man first, so that's why I put it on the list)
    7. Cloverfield
    8. War of the Worlds
    9. The Thing (the great Kurt Russell version, which was also on recently)

This will sound ludicrous, but I would even throw in a movie like Hotel Rwanda, just from the standpoint that the lead character had to get through waves and waves of bureaucratic and paramilitary barriers to survive and get his mission accomplished.

    And I believe I forgot a couple.

But I still liked "District 9." Huh.

I saw it. Eh. It had some laughs, but wasn't great.

I saw the trailer when I went to The King's Speech, and despite the presence of some funny people like Ed Helms, my reaction was ... yawn. And this was the (really long) trailer, when they're trying to throw you some fireworks to get you to go to watch the whole damn thing. I kept waiting for something funny to happen, and wasn't rewarded until Colin Firth started shouting, "Fuck, fuck and fuckity fuck ... " in The King's Speech.

Seen a few lately, including two of the Oscar contenders, The Kids Are All Right and Black Swan. Kids was pretty good, I'm a Julianne Moore fan, well acted. Black Swan was ridiculously disturbing, well acted with great visuals. I'm still not sure what the hell was actually happening half the time. I've only seen four of the nominees so far, and those two ranked behind Toy Story 3 and Inception for me.

Rambo was an unfettered shitfest. Absolutely terrible.

He got to take a shower with Sharon Stone when that still meant something. We'll know Stallone's resurgence has run its course when he rolls out "Demolition Man 2."

Restrepo - very good film. Makes me appreciate our soldiers even more. Kept making me think of playing paintball, because that's as close to war as I ever hope to get, except if you get hit, you die. But a very good documentary.
