Just watched The Fighter. Great movie. Lots of ups and downs, and the acting was great. I can see why Christian Bale has gotten all the awards he has for the movie. His crack-addict performance makes you want to tear up.

HBO doc "Lucky" about the lottery. Very interesting. Some people are cut out to be rich. Others are not.

Great that all but his math skills improved while fried. Anyone who has written after smoking out knows it's the PED of writing.

"Barney's Version" Paul Giamatti was tremendous, and I have a new celeb crush: Rosamund Pike. Perfect performance from her.

Saw "The Fighter" yesterday and enjoyed it very much. But aside from the amazingly excellent acting by all concerned, about as old-fashioned a boxing movie as you could imagine. It even had a training montage and a "fighter works his way up the ladder to contention" fights montage. All that was missing was the locomotive shots and the newspaper headlines spinning around.

    In defense of anachronism.

The entirety of 'Citizen Kane' is a flashback. So is 'Rashomon.' And 'Raging Bull.' And 'Pulp Fiction.' So is the novel 'Heart of Darkness.'

Repo Men last night. Very solid movie, fight scene near the end was kickin'. It did not disappoint.

Watched Miss March yesterday afternoon. It was about as stupid as one might expect.

Today, I watched a doc on ILM (very intriguing on how technology has impacted the development of movies) and Crossing Over, which tackled immigration and had a lot of Crash and Babel in it.

Watched that a while ago. Thought it was well done.

Just finished Nothing But The Truth, a fictional account based on the Valerie Plame story. Very strong movie and it's a fair treatment of the source protection issue with reporters.

Bummer. Seems like a good idea.
