I think all three Bourne movies are outstanding. I thought Raiders of the Lost Ark was one of the best movies of all-time. I enjoyed the second and third, but they were nowhere close to the first, nor do they really try to be. The fourth film has no redeeming qualities and rivals Phantom Menace as one of the most disappointing films of all-time.

That was the answer I was expecting from Alma.

I've seen two of them. The one with Julie Delpy and the one with Irene Jacob. I think that's White and Red. I did not see Blue. They're great films, but I don't think they can be compared with wildly popular trilogies like Godfather and Star Wars and Toy Story or even LOTR.

Well, let's see what he says.

We may look at the question differently. For example, I'd view the trilogy debate as one would a hockey game. It's not necessary for the 1, 2 and 3 periods to be equally well-played. It's the cumulative effort of the three periods. When I think trilogy, I don't automatically think "what is the least of these films, and how does it measure up to the least of other trilogies?" I think of the best of them and work my way down.

I think he's looking for a Trilogy that is more obscure than any that have been mentioned.

"Well, Mizzou, there is a trilogy of silent films filmed in southeast Albania that is far superior to anything Pixar or Kieslowski has done. The first came out in 1942, the second in 1944 and the third was delayed until 1947 because of the end of the World War II. It starred the russian silent film star Sergie Cherkemov, who was the considered the Charlie Chaplin of Northern Estonia."

It doesn't. Cholodenko's movies just have a lot of sexual tension in them.

That actually sounds a very little like Fritz Lang's Mabuse trilogy.

Watched "Unstoppable" with the family this weekend. I thought, "how exciting can a runaway train be?" You know what, it was pretty damn exciting.

    Good add.

Also Fassbinder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRD_Trilogy and Bergman http://www.amazon.com/Ingmar-Bergman-Trilogy-Criterion-Collection/dp/B0000A02TX and Rossellini http://www.amazon.com/Roberto-Rossellinis-Trilogy-Criterion-Collection/dp/B002U6DVQ2

There's Fellini's La Strada, Il Bidone and Nights of Cabiria, which is a trilogy of a kind.

The best multi-part movie I've ever seen is Krzysztof Kieślowski's 'Decalogue.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Decalogue

No knock on Toy Story, but of mainstream movies, lots of folks would (and do) argue in favor of the original Star Wars.
