The Bucket List. Made me want to form my own bucket list, but then again, I don't have any billionaire friends to fly me to Giza or France or drive Shelby GTs around a closed track. Ending was pretty sad, though. Well worth the watch, makes you realize what is important in life.

  2. Watched (suffered actually) through Machete yesterday.
    Wow did it suck.
I know it was nevr billed as much, but man it made The Expendables look like an oscar contender.
"Let's make a shitty B movie with a bunch of better-name actors and see what happens."
I turned it off with about 20 minutes left.
When did De Niro get Nic Cage syndrome?

Watched "The Tourist" last night. The action wasn't nearly as good as I expected, but it was funnier than I expected. I saw the end coming.

If I had to grade it, I'd say maybe a B-. It could have been a B+ with better action. The chase across the rooftops and the boat chase were both pretty weak.

I'd recommend a RedBox rental, but I'm glad I didn't shell out $20 to see it in the theater.

I just finished re-watching the first five Harry Potter movies.

While I found "Order of the Phoenix" to be the book i had the most problems enjoying, it was made into a very solid movie.

Recently watched Basic Instinct 2 and American Psycho 2 on Netflix. It was a fun night.

Saw Lincoln Lawyer tonight. Liked it a lot, one of the better ones I've seen in months, actually. McConaughey's great, cool soundtrack, good twists.

Dying (pun intended) to see this flick. It's coming to Netflix in a couple weeks and it's going to sit in my No. 1 spot until it does. I was tempted to go see it in theaters but I couldn't find anyone that wanted to shell out $10 to see it with me.

Will definitely be checking it out on DVD asap.

Speaking of DVD, I just finished up (500) Days of Summer. Holy crap what a great, great movie.

Yes, it was a little off-putting seeing Dr. Spencer Reid in the flick and it took me a little while to realize I was watching the guy from 3rd Rock from the Sun try to mack it with the girl from Elf but the movie was fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

Quite possibly the most realistic portrayal of young romance I've ever seen.

Loved 'Hereafter,' a film that really spoke to me. Some of Eastwood's most understated work.

I loved 'The Town,' and thought it one of the year's best. And while some of the deleted scenes in the extended version help explain some motivations, they also bog down the film. Watch the theatrical version if watching for the first time; it's much more streamlined and leaves some logical leaps up to the viewer (not EVERYTHING has to be explained).

And this blanket critique I see so often parroted in this thread: "Didn't buy the Claire and Doug love story." Why?

Doug obviously was looking to get out of town and latched onto a smart, sexy, relatively sophisticated and mature woman with whom he could see himself growing old. He doesn't want to end up like his dad, so he's looking for the opposite of his mother.

As for Claire, she was vulnerable after the bank heist, new to the city. He's an attractive, relatively introspective Boston guy -- someone she knows deep down will likely break her heart, but she's interested anyway because maybe she can change him because he's willing to be changed.

Saw three movies this weekend: Lincoln Lawyer, Limitless and Last Night.

Really liked Lincoln Lawyer and Limitless. Both had good scripts and were fairly well written. Also, as much as you hate to like McConaughy, he's really good as a lawyer. Didn't he play a good one in Time to Kill as well? Anyway, Last Night is a slow starter but finally end up liking it. Haven't seen Knightley in anything in a while and she plays a good part in this one.

The Killer Inside Me - Made it about a half hour in before I turned it off. Basically a snuff film with Casey Affleck half-assing his lines. Why Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson were involved in this indie garbage is a mystery. Fun fact: Cost $13 million to make. Domestic gross was $214K.

I remember when my wife suggested this for our date night and I was thinking "whatever." Then after the film I was thinking "wow, that was fantastic." A very realistic portrayal of a young relationship and the way it was told was unique to me.
