I watched it a few nights after it came out and enjoyed it as well. Started a lil slow and was wondering when it was going to pick it up. But when it did, I couldn't stop laughing.

I don't like Owen Wilson, but I thought he was really good in this movie.

I watched "127 Hours" last night and damn,t that was an intense 102 minutes. Boyle made excellent use of sound, particularly when Ralston works on his nerve. I cringe just thinking about it. I've never really loved Franco (he was the worst part of the Spider-Man movies), but he nailed this one. I was impressed.

Yeah, I'm not a Franco fan on any level, but I loved that film.

Saw "The King's Speech" tonight. I didn't realize that it was a new PG-13 version that came out today. Reading that the only thing altered was changing a few "fucks" to "shit" instead, I can't imagine it would have really been any different to me.

There was no one remotely close to age 13 in the theater any way. Just a bunch of us old folks.

People cheered at the end. I imagine "The King's Speech" and "The Fighter" are the two movies from last year that drew that response.

Saw Limitless the other night. Once I got past the fact that a routine police frisking of someone at a murder scene would have negated the rest of the movie, it was a decent entertainment. Bradley Cooper came off as McConoughey Lite, and the only interesting thing about the other actors other than that is that a longtime L&O franchise staple as a sleazy defense lawyer reprised his role. The ending definitely went against the grain in the sense that in sci-fi works, one usually doesn't fare so well when he cheats the natural flow of things.

It was worth watching "Requiem" just to realize how many commercial directors, including the one for York's Peppermint Patties, have appropriated the "drug rush" imagery from that movie to see candy and such. Weird.

Watched a movie called 'Timer" tonight. Very interesting concept. Basically, science has developed a way for people to know the exact moment they're supposed to meet their "soul mate" and, through a timer on your wrist connected to your bloodstream, you can find out the exact day you're supposed to meet that person and when you first make eye contact with them. the timer goes off and boom, love.

I was intrigued by the concept simply because I love movies that deal with destiny vs. free will and this movie, though I'd never heard of it before, was compelling. Solid cast, solid plot and, while the concept is a bit hard to believe in, they do a good job making it seem somewhat plausible if you're willing to buy in.

It's available on Netflix streaming so if you're into fate vs. free will type movies that also happen to be love stories, this is a good way to kill two hours.

  9. The reason they changed it was because a lot of teachers want to show it in classroooms. I haven't seen the movie, but I was told there were sex scenes and a few F-bombs. They cut that out - or at least down so the movie could be shown in educational settings.

I didn't know about the sex scenes. Tried to find something about that and couldn't. Not that I doubt you, but I can't even imagine where there would be one. Maybe with the brother and his mistress/future wife?

I remember watching an edited version of "Glory" in high school. Seems like a similar decision here for similar reasons.

Saw "Pelham 1 2 3", the Denzel version, a few days ago, and I'm just now getting over the Tony Scott-induced motion sickness. I was just curious to see how it stacked up against the original, which I like. It doesn't stack up.

Interested in "Insidious" but I'm worried that it may be a little too similar to Paranormal 2. Still could be worth getting creeped out over some popcorn.

Looking for a suggestion for something on Netflix Instant to watch tonight. I don't like horror movies, action flicks or period pieces (for the most part). I do like mindless romcoms, documentaries and dramas.

    Let loose.
