I'm surprised at how much I like Brand. After Sarah Marshall, I thought, well, he was great in that, but what else can he do?

I loved Get him to the Greek. I laughed my ass off.

Watched The Fighter, and Bale might have given the greatest acting performance I have ever seen. Some may have been as good, but in no way can I say another acting performance was better than what I just watched.

    That said...

Take Bale out of this film and it is very average. IMHO, The Social Network was a much better movie.

I would not even consider The Fighter in the class of movie as Rocky or Raging Bull.

Saw "Rango" and "Hop" last week with my little people.

Both of them fell asleep during "Rango" towards the end. Run time for it was 1:47, which is about 20 minutes too long for a kid's movie.
I thought it was just so-so and came away a bit disappointed.

Enjoyed "Hop" much better, though it won't break any new ground. Russell Brand voices the bunny, and he has some great little lines.
Kids were entranced the whole time too.

It certainly wasn't great, but entertaining for the crowd I was with.

Seeing the trailer to this, I thought the remake had done away completely with the Arthur character's alcoholism, because they're was no reference to it (and like you said, it seemed to focus solely on the big-rich-kid-who-won't-grow-up aspect). It wasn't until I read a recent story where Brand was asked about his preparation for playing a drunk that I heard any reference to that part of it.

It's kind of refreshing to see kids movies that don't try to be anything more.

My kids were entranced by Hop as well.

I thought it was surprisingly funny, especially Azaria as the chick.

You know, you might just be on to something here.

The way Bale is totally consumed by the character - his tics, mannerisms, accent, drug-addled ways and his narcissism was awe-inspiring. Especially when you see the actual guy during the credits, and you can see just how much a carbon copy Bale was.

I thought the movie was OK, but it veered into cartoon whenever the sisters were around.

And although it was a labor of love for him, and the result of personal efforts lasting about a decade, I thought Mark Wahlberg was acting like he was in a different movie. A Movie of the Week one.

If you are a really good looking girl, when you stand by yourself, people really notice you for your beauty.

When you are a really good looking girl and you are standing next to Linda Carter circa 1978, people notice how hot she is and how you are only good looking.

I'm confused. It's the same character. Doesn't the question still stand?

Oh, yes - Hanna (Wright, 2011)

It's good. Euro. Propulsive. A bit showy on the visual front; Wright still hasn't quite grasped how to integrate his considerable skills fully into narrative without pointing his camera at a setpiece and saying "ho do you like that?" He's not very subtle. But it's a filling meal for spring. Good time for it to play.

. . . and from here, one can riff that Shoot The Piano Player (a fine work in its own right, while not at Breathless' level) was obviously seen by Altman and Beatty before McCabe and Mrs. Miller was made. Let it snow . . .

Started watching Death in Love. It was a little much to handle at 3:30 in the morning, so I went to bed.

    Will finish at some point.
